Frontieras North America Signs LOI with Cora Terminal for Multi-Phase FASForm Deployment in Illinois

Frontieras North America, an energy and environmental technology company, has announced a Letter of Intent (LOI) with Cora Terminal, LLC—a joint venture between Watco Companies, LLC and SCH Services, LLC—for the phased development of FASForm™ production capacity at the Cora Terminal in Rockwood, Illinois. This move represents a significant step in the company's expansion of its patented coal conversion technology.

Under the proposed structure, Frontieras would initially lease approximately 85 acres at the terminal to construct a plant designed to process 7,500 tons of coal feedstock per day. A later expansion would add a second plant on an additional 130 acres, bringing the total leased area to around 215 acres. At full buildout of both plants, the site would receive approximately 5.5 million net tons of coal feedstock annually and produce a range of products including FASCarbon™, ultra-low-sulfur diesel, jet fuel, ammonium sulfate fertilizer, sulfuric acid, and naphtha.

The Cora project would be Frontieras' third announced commercial site, following its $850 million first commercial facility currently under construction in Mason County, West Virginia. Cora Terminal is well-positioned to support such an operation, as it can accommodate up to four unit trains simultaneously, has the capability to move more than 11 million tons of coal annually, and owns over 300 acres of developable land surrounding the terminal.

The LOI outlines that the parties will pursue site due diligence, engineering, permitting, infrastructure assessment, and definitive lease and transportation agreements. However, the LOI is an expression of mutual intent and is not a binding commitment to proceed. Any definitive agreements will be subject to due diligence, permitting, financing, and required approvals.

Frontieras North America is an energy and environmental technology company redefining the global sector of coal utilization through its patented FASForm Solid Carbon Fractionation technology. This technology converts coal and other hydrocarbons into clean fuels, fertilizers, and industrial chemicals via a zero-waste process. Headquartered in Houston, Texas, the company is constructing its first commercial-scale facility in Mason County, West Virginia, and recently completed a Regulation A+ public offering.

The announcement of the LOI with Cora Terminal is a strategic move that could have significant implications for the coal industry and the broader energy sector. By expanding its commercial footprint to Illinois, Frontieras aims to demonstrate the scalability and versatility of its technology. If successful, the Cora project could create new markets for coal, potentially revitalizing regions dependent on coal production while addressing environmental concerns through a zero-waste process. The production of clean fuels and fertilizers from coal could also contribute to energy security and agricultural productivity.

For Cora Terminal, the partnership represents an opportunity to leverage its extensive infrastructure and land assets, potentially increasing its throughput and diversifying its business beyond traditional coal handling. The project could also stimulate local economic development in Rockwood, Illinois, through construction jobs and long-term operational employment.

Investors and industry observers will be watching closely as the parties proceed with due diligence and feasibility studies. The outcome of these efforts will determine whether the Cora project advances to a binding agreement, marking a milestone in Frontieras' commercialization strategy.
