Hong Kong Electronics Fair Opens with 3,200 Exhibitors and Debut of Future Industries Zone

The Hong Kong Electronics Fair (Autumn Edition) and electronicAsia opened today at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, bringing together more than 3,200 exhibitors from 15 countries and regions for a four-day showcase of innovations in consumer electronics, artificial intelligence, robotics, smart living, immersive entertainment, electronic components and advanced manufacturing technologies. Organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) and MMI Asia Pte Ltd, the twin fairs provide a one-stop sourcing and networking platform for global buyers. The debut of the Future Industries Zone highlights five frontier sectors: Future Computing, Future Manufacturing, Future Marine & Quantum Technologies, Future Microelectronics and Future Wellness. This initiative aligns with Hong Kong's strategic direction to become an international innovation and technology centre, as outlined in the Policy Address and the First Five-Year Plan.

Sophia Chong, HKTDC Executive Director, emphasised the fair's role in evolving alongside the industry and supporting Hong Kong's innovation goals. The expanded RoboPark features over 120 robots, demonstrating applications in commercial services, industrial logistics, entertainment and healthcare. Notable exhibitors include AgiBot Innovation with its humanoid robot Agibot A3, UBTECH's Walker C1, and DEEP Robotics' quadruped robots. These displays underscore the growing integration of robotics into everyday life and various industries, offering buyers a firsthand look at practical applications.

The GoGlobal Connect Zone, part of the government-led GoGlobal Task Force, offers advisory services to help enterprises, particularly from the Chinese Mainland, expand internationally through Hong Kong. This zone reflects HKTDC's commitment to reinforcing Hong Kong's role as a superconnector and super value-adder. The fair also hosts 130 buying missions from 65 countries and regions, further connecting international markets with innovative supply chains.

In addition to the physical fairs, the EXHIBITION+ hybrid model allows online participation via the HKTDC Click2Match platform, with online exhibitions running from 6 to 23 October. The HKTDC, celebrating its 60th anniversary, continues to promote Hong Kong as a two-way global investment and business hub. It organises international exhibitions, conferences and business missions to create opportunities for SMEs. It also provides market insights through trade publications, research reports and digital news channels. For more information, visit www.hktdc.com/aboutus.

The fairs also feature the 11th Symposium on Innovation & Technology and the Hong Kong Electronic Forum, with speakers from AWS, IBM, Lenovo and HPE, among others. These events explore AI-driven security, sustainable innovation and cross-industry transformation, offering attendees insights into emerging trends. With over 120 start-ups and a comprehensive supply chain showcase, the fairs serve as a catalyst for industry growth and technological advancement.

The implications of this event extend beyond immediate sourcing opportunities. By fostering international collaboration and showcasing cutting-edge technologies, the fairs reinforce Hong Kong's position as a global innovation hub. The Future Industries Zone, in particular, signals a strategic push towards developing future industries, which could drive economic diversification and technological leadership in the region. As businesses worldwide seek to integrate AI and robotics, the fair provides a platform for knowledge exchange and partnership, potentially accelerating the adoption of these technologies across industries.

The event also highlights the importance of Hong Kong as a gateway for Chinese Mainland enterprises to go global, leveraging its professional services and international networks. This could enhance trade flows and investment, benefiting the broader economy. The HKTDC's efforts to support start-ups and SMEs through mentorship and investment matching further contribute to a vibrant innovation ecosystem. Overall, the Autumn Electronics Fair and electronicAsia underscore Hong Kong's resilience and adaptability in the face of global economic challenges, positioning it as a key player in the technology sector.
