The 34th Hong Kong International Optical Fair, organized by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) and co-organized by the Hong Kong Optical Manufacturers Association, will take place from 4 to 6 November 2026 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. Under the theme "Bright Eyes • New Horizons," the fair will feature more than 600 exhibitors from 14 countries and regions, offering a comprehensive sourcing platform for smart eyewear, eye care, sports and specialist eyewear, frames, lenses, and related products.
The event comes at a time of rapid transformation in the eyewear industry. HKTDC Associate Executive Director Smilely Lam noted that AI-powered smart glasses recorded global shipments of 8.7 million units last year, a year-on-year increase of 322%, underscoring the sector's strong growth momentum. "The Hong Kong International Optical Fair showcases the latest products and technologies, and also inspires the industry to explore emerging market opportunities from fresh perspectives and foster cross-industry collaboration," Lam said. The fair aims to reinforce Hong Kong's position as an international business hub and regional sourcing center.
Exhibitors will span Hong Kong, the Chinese Mainland, Taiwan, and across Asia, Europe, and the United States, including industry associations from Danyang, Zhejiang, Yingtan, Korea, and the Fukui Optical Association. The "Brand Name Gallery" will spotlight some 200 renowned brands, while the new Visionaries of Style zone will cater to creative designer brands. Making its debut, Daegu Health College of Korea will bring a number of local eyewear companies to showcase innovative products. Pre-registered buyers from leading retailers and distributors worldwide, such as Capitol Optical (Singapore), Eyespace Eyewear (UK), and Vision Plus (US), demonstrate the event's strong international sourcing appeal.
Smart eyewear will be a major focus, with products featuring augmented reality, AI voice assistants, real-time translation, 4K recording, and navigation functions. According to IDC, global smart glasses shipments reached 3.566 million units in the first quarter of 2026, up 130.1% year-on-year, while Omdia reported that global AI eyewear shipments reached 8.7 million units in 2025, representing annual growth of 322%. The growing silver economy is also driving demand for vision care products, including progressive lenses, smart reading glasses, bone-conduction audio glasses, and eye-care devices designed for older consumers. Sports eyewear, performance eyewear, and sustainability-focused products will round out the highlights.
Industry forums and seminars will cover smart eyewear, performance eyewear, testing and certification. The 24th Hong Kong International Optometric Symposium, organized by the HKTDC and co-organized by the Hong Kong Optometric Association and The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, will take place on 5 November under the theme "Primary Eye Care in Action: Elevating Clinical Scope and Community Impact." Experts from the Chinese Mainland, Hong Kong, Australia, the UK, and the US will share research and clinical experiences on topics including pediatric eye care, digital eye strain, and dry eye management. Additionally, the 26th Hong Kong Eyewear Design Competition will hold its award ceremony on opening day, with a new Technology Concept Award for student participants.
The fair will continue the EXHIBITION+ hybrid model, integrating online and offline elements. The Click2Match smart business-matching platform will run from 28 October to 13 November, while the Scan2Match function on the HKTDC Marketplace App will allow buyers to bookmark suppliers and access product details during the physical event. Full details are available on the Hong Kong International Optical Fair website, with the event programme and symposium details also online.
