Inaugural Chinatown Creator Awards Draws Over-Capacity Crowd, Honoring Influencers and Culinary Talent

The inaugural Chinatown Creator Awards, held on August 27 at COYA Living, attracted a record-breaking crowd, honoring photographers, videographers, food personalities, and digital storytellers for their impact on the Spring Mountain Road corridor's culture and commerce. The private reception, co-hosted by COYA Living, a luxury apartment community at Chinatown's eastern gateway, brought together creators, chefs, restaurant owners, and neighborhood partners. Writer, film director, and City Cast correspondent Jason Harris served as emcee.

The 20 honorees were recognized in five groups, mirroring their May introduction in the 'This Week in Chinatown' series by ChinatownVegas.com. Among those in attendance were @lasvegasfill, @brandonfromvegas, @wheretogovegas, @therubyontherocks, @baileyzeats, @withlove_christine, @tiny_pennguin, @giselliii93, @tiarappgyo, @antonio_loves_wings, @heydonnah, @ceslynne, @shekuni_lv, and @studiosealv. Each received a custom plaque commemorating their influence.

"The creators honored through these awards have done far more than post about restaurants," said Joe Muscaglione, founder of ChinatownVegas.com and Chinatown Amplify. The event highlighted the culinary scene, with Sparrow + Wolf and Lamaii, both MICHELIN Guide recommendations the night before, as reported by Las Vegas Weekly, offering signature dishes. Chef Brian Howard of Sparrow + Wolf presented a smoky, wood-fired Isaan sausage with fermented green mango, while Lamaii served garlicky crispy prawns. Chef Steve Kestler of Aroma Latin American Cocina created a citrus-forward Chinatown Ceviche exclusively for the event. "It was an honor to be part of this great community event," Kestler said.

Other culinary contributions included Chef Jimmy Li's exclusive abalone and sea cucumber meatball from Shanghai Taste, Double Zero Pie & Pub's new New York-style pizza, China Mama's orange chicken, and Crystina Nguyen's rice dumplings from Mama's House × Durango Social Club. O.Onigiri offered a tri-pack of unagi, wagyu, and shrimp tempura, while Noodlehead served its famous beef rolls and shredded chicken cold noodles. Santy Luangpraseuth of Charismatic Yo, Mochi! presented crème brûlée mochi donuts, and Chef Yuka of Moignet Café provided mini chiffon sandos. Milk Bread kept tables stocked with cheese and guava bread. Paul Ellis poured wine and champagne, with The Alchemist Bar & Restaurant providing cocktails and zero-proof beverages.

Notable guests included rock photographer David Plastik, whose work appeared in Rolling Stone, and legendary music publicist Mitch Schneider, who represented David Bowie and Aerosmith. Schneider called the reception a "meaningful event" honoring creators "who've helped put Las Vegas Chinatown on the map," praising the curated bites.

Las Vegas Chinatown receives approximately 23.9 million visits annually and is home to 248 verified sit-down restaurants, along with cafés, markets, spas, and nightlife venues. "It's 23.9 million visits a year - more than some countries and more than most cities - all concentrated in one neighborhood," Muscaglione said. "These creators have helped the world see why." The awards were established to formally recognize independent creators who have built awareness of the corridor. The over-capacity attendance and broad participation signal a strong future for the awards.

ChinatownVegas.com is presenting complete coverage in a special edition of This Week in Chinatown, with a written report and companion video episode. Beginning with subsequent editions, the written report and video will be released together every Monday.
