Intershop Reports Positive EBIT and 29% Cloud Order Growth in First Nine Months of 2026

Intershop Communications AG (ISIN: DE000A254211), a global provider of agentic B2B commerce solutions, reported revenues of EUR 23.4 million for the first nine months of 2026, down from EUR 25.2 million in the prior-year period. Despite the decline, the company returned to profitability with EBIT of EUR 0.2 million, compared to a loss of EUR 1.4 million a year earlier. The improvement stemmed from consistent cost-cutting measures that reduced total expenses by 13% to EUR 23.2 million.

The company’s cloud business continued to grow, with revenues rising 2% to EUR 15.7 million and now accounting for 67% of total revenues, up six percentage points year over year. Incoming cloud orders jumped 29% to EUR 14.2 million, driven by both new customers (EUR 3.7 million) and existing customers (EUR 10.5 million). Cloud annual recurring revenues (ARR) stood at EUR 20.3 million as of September 30, 2026, a 3% increase from the prior year. New ARR rose 27% to EUR 2.1 million, while net new ARR showed a clear upward trend, reaching EUR 0.5 million in the third quarter alone.

“Nine months into the year, the positive trend seen in the first two quarters continues: our consistent cost discipline is paying off, we have once again generated positive EBIT, and we are on track to meet our full-year targets,” said CEO Markus Dränert. He noted that incoming cloud orders rose 29% while total expenses fell 13%, indicating that the recovery that began at the end of 2025 remains stable even as customers’ willingness to invest is still subdued.

The shift toward cloud services led to a planned 42% decline in license and maintenance revenues to EUR 2.9 million, while service revenues were nearly flat at EUR 4.9 million. Gross margin improved by two percentage points to 48%, and operating expenses fell 14% to EUR 11.1 million. Research and development expenses decreased 6% to EUR 5.1 million, sales and marketing costs dropped 10% to EUR 4.2 million, and general administrative expenses came in at EUR 2.2 million.

Intershop also strengthened its financial position. Cash flow from operating activities more than doubled to EUR 3.6 million from EUR 1.6 million, and cash and cash equivalents rose to EUR 9.6 million. The equity ratio improved slightly to 37%. EBITDA reached EUR 2.7 million, up from EUR 1.1 million in the previous year. The third quarter marked the third consecutive quarter with a positive operating result, with EBIT of EUR 45 thousand.

For readers and industry observers, the results underscore the viability of Intershop’s transition to an agentic commerce platform. The company confirmed its full-year 2026 forecast, expecting incoming cloud orders and net new ARR at prior-year levels, a slight decline in revenues, and a balanced operating result.
