KIT WAN STUDIOS, a multidisciplinary design and visual art studio led by Hong Kong-born creative director and visual artist Kit Wan, will headline the CENTRESTAGE ELITES runway show on September 2, 2026, at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. The show, part of the third edition of “Hong Kong Fashion Fest,” will feature the studio’s forthcoming collection blending sci-fi inspirations with mechanical aesthetics, blurring the boundaries between collectable and wearable fashion.
Organized by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) and sponsored by the Cultural and Creative Industries Development Agency (CCIDA), CENTRESTAGE is a key event in the Asian fashion calendar. The ELITES opening show will highlight KIT WAN STUDIOS’ unique “abstract reality” approach, which spans costume design, multimedia installations, and permanent museum exhibits. The studio’s work merges manga and mythology with bespoke metalwork, creating cinematic garments and stage installations that have been featured at events like the Grammy Awards and Eurovision.
The homecoming show is particularly significant for Kit Wan, who studied knitwear design at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University before working in London, Amsterdam, and Oslo. In Oslo, he completed an MA in fashion design and became the first fashion designer to receive the Norwegian government’s “Young Artist Award.” His creations are part of the permanent collection of the National Museum of Norway. In 2025, the studio was selected by Fashion Asia Hong Kong as the sole Hong Kong representative among its “2025 10 Asian Designers to Watch.”
“It feels like ‘THE’ moment for my work to come from my clearest voice, from my clearest mind,” Wan said. “This collection is from my heart, my voice – so completely – and I am excited to share that with my hometown of Hong Kong.”
The studio’s collaborative roster includes local superstars such as Aaron Kwok, Hins Cheung, and Miriam Yeung, as well as international acts like Alan Cumming and Teddy Swims. By infusing pop culture with avant-garde aesthetics, the studio has pioneered a new visual dimension that resonates across Cantopop and global entertainment.
During CENTRESTAGE, Wan will also lead a sharing session, offering insights into his creative journey. The fair, now in its 11th edition, reinforces Hong Kong’s position as Asia’s fashion hub, featuring thematic zones, fashion parades, and industry seminars on sustainable fashion and AI in design. Further details will be announced at a press conference on August 20.
The event underscores Hong Kong’s push for a “Mega Events Economy,” where stage design and performance costumes play an integral role. By showcasing local talent like KIT WAN STUDIOS, CENTRESTAGE connects global design talent and fosters cross-cultural perspectives, inspiring the future of fashion across Asia and beyond.
