McEwen Inc. (NYSE: MUX) (TSX: MUX) has increased its ownership stake in Inventus Mining Corporation to 12.7% following the exercise of warrants for 9.2 million common shares, according to a company announcement disseminated on behalf of McEwen Inc. The transaction, completed on November 4, 2026, involved the purchase of shares at C$0.12 each, for total consideration of C$1.104 million.
The move raises McEwen’s holdings from 20 million shares, or approximately 9% of Inventus’s outstanding shares, to 29.2 million shares, representing 12.7%. McEwen stated that the shares were acquired for investment purposes and that it may purchase additional securities or dispose of existing holdings depending on market conditions, the business and prospects of Inventus, and other relevant factors. The company will file an Early Warning Report under applicable securities laws.
This increase in ownership is significant because it underscores McEwen’s strategic interest in Inventus, a junior mining company. For readers, it highlights McEwen’s active management of its investment portfolio and could signal confidence in Inventus’s projects. In the mining industry, such stake increases often precede further collaboration or investment, potentially leading to increased exploration or development activities. The news may also draw attention to Inventus as a company backed by a larger, established player, which could affect its stock performance and investor perception.
McEwen, which trades on both the NYSE and TSX under the ticker MUX, provides shareholders with exposure to a growing base of gold and silver production in the Americas, including mines in Nevada, Ontario, Manitoba, and Argentina, as well as the reactivation of its El Gallo Mine in Mexico. The company also holds a 46.3% interest in McEwen Copper, which owns the large-scale Los Azules copper project in Argentina. According to the last financing, McEwen’s ownership interest in McEwen Copper is valued at US$456 million (US$7.67 per share). The Los Azules project is designed to be one of the world’s first regenerative copper mines and carbon neutral by 2038, with feasibility study results announced in a press release dated October 7, 2025.
Additionally, McEwen recently purchased 27.3% of Paragon Advanced Labs Inc., a newly listed public company deploying PhotonAssay units globally, a technology that McEwen believes is poised to become the new industry standard for assaying precious and base metals. Chairman and Chief Owner Rob McEwen has invested over US$250 million personally and takes a salary of $1 per year, aligning his interests with shareholders. He is a recipient of the Order of Canada, a member of the Canadian Mining Hall of Fame, and a winner of the EY Entrepreneur of the Year (Energy) award. His objective is to build MUX’s profitability, share value, and ultimately implement a dividend policy, as he did while building Goldcorp Inc.
