For years, South Florida residents have recognized Mega Bee Rescues & Pest Control by its yellow-and-black bee logo and branding. This October, that yellow is disappearing as the family-owned company turns its signature bee pink for breast cancer awareness. The initiative, called Mega Bee Goes Pink, is not just a visual change; it represents a month-long commitment to support the fight against breast cancer.
Throughout October, Mega Bee will contribute 5% of its pest control and bee removal services to support breast cancer organizations. The company is also transforming its branding and equipping its technicians with pink uniforms, gloves, and shoe covers. Customers will receive "Your Service Went Pink Today" cards explaining how their service contributes to the campaign and how they can get involved. According to CEO Jean Navarro, the goal was to bring the cause directly into the communities the company serves. "We asked ourselves what going pink could look like if we actually brought it into what we do every day," Navarro said. "We're already going into homes, businesses and communities throughout South Florida. Instead of simply saying we support the cause, we wanted our customers to see it, our team to wear it and the work we perform throughout October to contribute to it."
The campaign has personal significance for the Mega Bee team. Breast cancer has affected the family of one team member, who experienced a loss due to the disease. "Behind the pink are real people and real families," Navarro said. "For the fighters, the survivors, the families and those we've lost, we wanted to use our company and the work we're already doing every day to show support in a real way."
Beyond its daily routes, Mega Bee is extending the campaign to a larger community event. On Saturday, October 17, team members will participate in the Susan G. Komen Miami/Ft. Lauderdale MORE THAN PINK Walk at the Miami-Dade County Fair & Expo Center. The company will document the month's activities, from technicians working in pink to the walk, and share the impact with customers and the community.
Navarro emphasized that as a local, family-owned business, Mega Bee can leverage its daily presence for a greater purpose. "We're not a huge corporation," he said. "But we have a team, customers, trucks on the road and a presence in our community every day. We realized we could use all of that for something bigger than ourselves."
South Floridians may spot Mega Bee technicians in pink instead of the traditional yellow throughout October. The company hopes this unexpected sight will spark conversations and raise awareness. Every inquiry about the pink bee becomes an opportunity to discuss breast cancer support. For October, even the bees are going pink.
Mega Bee Rescues & Pest Control is a family-owned Miami pest control and bee removal company serving residential, commercial, and managed properties throughout Miami-Dade and Broward counties. The company provides professional bee relocation services, year-round pest protection, rodent control, and commercial pest management, with an emphasis on thorough assessments, clear communication, and long-term prevention. This initiative not only raises funds but also demonstrates how a local business can integrate social responsibility into its operations, potentially inspiring other companies to support causes in tangible ways.
