Nordex Group Secures 77 MW Wind Order in Romania from OX2

The Nordex Group has received an order from Swedish renewable energy company OX2 to supply and install 11 N175/6.X turbines for the Urleasca wind farm in Romania. The contract, which includes a 35-year Premium Service agreement, covers a total installed capacity of 77 MW. The wind farm is located near the village of Urleasca in Brăila County, approximately 150 kilometers northeast of Bucharest in southeastern Romania.

In parallel with the turbine order, OX2 has sold the Urleasca ready-to-build wind farm to Norwegian renewable energy solutions provider Scatec ASA. Under the terms of the agreement, OX2 will oversee the entire construction phase, which is scheduled to commence in Q3 2026, with commissioning planned for the second half of 2028. The Urleasca wind farm holds a long-term Contract-for-Difference (CfD) with the Romanian State, providing a stable revenue framework for the project's output.

Slava Feklin, Country Manager Romania and Ukraine of the Nordex Group, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, stating, “We are delighted to further strengthen our transnational cooperation with OX2 – this time in Romania. The country continues to offer attractive opportunities for the deployment of modern wind energy technology. By combining OX2’s international project development expertise with our latest N175/6.X technology, all companies will deliver efficient and competitive renewable electricity to the Romanian market.”

The Urleasca project further strengthens Nordex Group's position in Romania, where the company has contracted more than 500 MW in recent months. This order underscores the growing momentum for wind energy in the region and highlights the strategic importance of the Romanian market for renewable energy developers and manufacturers.

OX2 is a leading renewable energy developer with a diverse project portfolio across onshore and offshore wind, solar, and storage. The company's total portfolio, including development, construction, asset management, and operations, amounts to about 33 GW. OX2 operates in five European markets and Australia, employs around 500 people, and is headquartered in Stockholm, Sweden. The company is owned by EQT, one of the world’s largest private equity investors. More information can be found at www.ox2.com.

The Nordex Group has commissioned more than 64 GW of wind power capacity in over 40 markets since 1985 and generated consolidated sales of around EUR 7.6 billion in 2025. The company currently employs more than 11,100 people and operates manufacturing facilities in Germany, Spain, Brazil, India, Türkiye, and the USA. Its product portfolio focuses on onshore turbines in the 4 to 7 MW+ classes, designed to meet the requirements of markets with limited space and constrained grid capacity. A global service network ensures smooth turbine operation. Nordex SE is listed on the MDAX and TecDAX of the Frankfurt Stock Exchange (ISIN: DE000A0D6554) in Germany.

The deal is significant for the renewable energy sector as it demonstrates continued investment in wind power in Eastern Europe, supported by government CfD mechanisms that mitigate market risks. For Romania, the project contributes to the country's energy transition goals by adding clean, reliable power to the grid. The involvement of multiple international players—OX2, Scatec, and Nordex—highlights the collaborative nature of the renewable energy industry and the attractiveness of Romania as an investment destination.
