NWB Finland Oy to Showcase AINA Natural Water at ECRM 2026, Offering Retailers Sustainable Packaging Alternative

NWB Finland Oy is bringing its retail-focused sustainable packaging message to the 2026 ECRM Vitamin, Weight Management & Sports Nutrition Session, scheduled for September 14-17 in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. The Finnish company will showcase AINA Natural Water and its distinctive 5-liter and 10-liter bag-in-box formats, positioning the product as a solution for retailers seeking to align with consumer demand for environmentally responsible choices without sacrificing convenience or quality.

Unlike premium water packaged primarily in individual plastic bottles, AINA combines naturally filtered groundwater from Northern Finland with larger-format packaging designed to substantially reduce the amount of plastic used. For retailers, NWB Finland Oy believes that creates an opportunity extending beyond the water itself.

"Retailers are increasingly looking for products that give consumers a reason to choose them while also supporting the values they want their stores and brands to represent," said Marita Weiman, Quality Assurance Manager at NWB Finland Oy. "AINA gives retailers a premium natural water with a sustainability story that is immediately visible in the packaging."

AINA's bag-in-box format provides retailers with several potential merchandising advantages. Its distinctive appearance can help differentiate the product from rows of traditional bottled water, while the larger format is designed for everyday use in homes, offices and other settings. Just as importantly, the packaging gives retailers a straightforward sustainability message to communicate to shoppers: consumers can purchase a larger quantity of premium drinking water while relying on substantially less plastic packaging than conventional individual bottles. That can help retailers demonstrate their commitment to offering more environmentally responsible choices without asking consumers to sacrifice convenience or product quality.

"We think the best sustainability innovations are the ones consumers can understand immediately," Weiman said. "When shoppers see AINA, the difference isn't hidden. The format itself helps tell the story, and that can be valuable for retailers as well as consumers."

Inside the packaging is naturally filtered groundwater originating in the Pudasjärvi region of Northern Finland. The water filters naturally through layers of soil, sand and rock before being mechanically filtered and packaged. AINA contains approximately 32 mg/L of Total Dissolved Solids (TDS), with a naturally low mineral content that contributes to its soft, neutral taste and clean finish.

At ECRM, NWB Finland Oy will present AINA as an opportunity for retailers to add differentiation to the premium water category through a combination of distinctive shelf presence, a clear sustainability story, consumer relevance, premium Northern Finland origin, and retailer brand alignment. The company's ECRM participation comes as it continues expanding AINA Natural Water into the United States, including its upcoming first U.S. consumer availability through OneLavi.com.

"We're coming to ECRM ready to talk about what AINA can bring to a retailer's water category," Weiman said. "It's not simply another premium water. It's an opportunity to offer consumers something visibly different while adding a strong sustainability story to the shelf."

The implications of this announcement extend beyond a single product launch. As retailers face increasing pressure to meet sustainability goals and differentiate their assortments, AINA's bag-in-box format offers a tangible way to reduce plastic waste while providing a premium product. If successful, this approach could encourage broader adoption of alternative packaging in the beverage industry, potentially reducing the environmental footprint of bottled water and influencing consumer expectations. For the packaging and retail sectors, NWB Finland Oy's move signals a growing market for innovative, sustainable solutions that align with both business and environmental objectives.
