Outamation, an AI-native mortgage operations technology company, announced that Equifax® consumer credit data is now integrated into its OutamateMods platform. The integration provides mortgage servicers with soft-pull credit data to help identify performing borrowers who are good candidates for a loan modification. The move is designed to help servicers retain borrowers and maintain their portfolios as the mortgage industry prepares for a potential refinance wave when interest rates fall.
In the current rate environment, refinance activity is low, but that is expected to change once rates decline. Outamation notes that servicers need to be ready to act on day one of a refinance wave to offer qualified consumers new opportunities to improve their cash flow while keeping loans on their books. The integration allows servicers to react quickly by embedding credit insights directly into the retention workflow.
With the integration, servicers gain access to Equifax soft-pull credit data inside OutamateMods and across the Outamation platform. They can conduct portfolio retention reviews to identify performing borrowers who are candidates for a modification, execute end-to-end processes from eligibility through documents and closing, and support retention and recapture programs, including performing loan modifications for portfolio loans.
“The time to build a retention program is before the next refinance wave, not during it,” said Ron Morton, Chief Revenue Officer at Outamation. “Keeping a borrower costs far less than winning one back, so having the tools in place now to prepare is a critical step to create compelling offers for consumers quickly.”
Carrie Doyle, VP of Business Development, Digital Alliances for Mortgage & Housing at Equifax, added, “Mortgage servicers need timely insights to help match borrowers with the right loan. Bringing Equifax soft-pull credit data into OutamateMods puts that insight directly inside the retention workflow. It helps servicers act sooner and serve borrowers better.”
The integration is live today for OutamateMods clients. The announcement highlights a growing trend in the mortgage servicing industry: using data and automation to proactively engage borrowers before they are lured away by competitors. By identifying performing borrowers who could benefit from a modification, servicers can offer tailored solutions that improve borrower cash flow and reduce the risk of attrition. This approach may also help servicers avoid the higher costs associated with acquiring new borrowers to replace those who refinance elsewhere.
For consumers, the integration could mean more proactive outreach from servicers with offers that better fit their financial situations. As rates eventually decline, borrowers who might otherwise refinance with a different lender may instead find competitive options from their current servicer. The use of soft-pull credit data means servicers can assess eligibility without impacting the borrower’s credit score, making the process more consumer-friendly.
Industry observers suggest that as the mortgage market shifts, retention strategies will become increasingly important. Outamation’s integration with Equifax positions the company to help servicers stay ahead of that curve. More information is available at outamation.com.
