REPLOID Group AG (“REPLOID”) has consolidated its fertilizer business into a newly formed subsidiary, REPLOID REGREEN GmbH (“REGREEN”), based in Wels, Austria. The company will produce and market organic fertilizers made from insect frass, a nutrient-rich by-product generated when Black Soldier Fly larvae process organic residues from the food industry. Andreas Steinbüchler, a veteran with over 25 years in the fertilizer industry, has been appointed Managing Director to lead the venture.
The spin-off is part of REPLOID’s strategic plan to enter the fertilizer market. The REGREEN products are sourced from REPLOID’s own ReFarmUnits, which are modular insect-rearing plants. The market entry is scheduled for fall 2026, starting with fertilizer sticks for potted plants, followed by a lawn fertilizer and an agricultural fertilizer for commercial farming later that year.
Europe’s fertilizer market faces structural challenges, including heavy reliance on imported mineral fertilizers, tightening regulations, and increasingly degraded soils. Organic fertilizers, such as those produced by REGREEN, complement mineral ones by improving nutrient efficiency, building soil organic matter, and enhancing soil resilience to drought stress. This positions REGREEN to meet rising demand for locally produced, circular solutions in agriculture and horticulture.
Andreas Steinbüchler, Managing Director of REPLOID REGREEN, stated: “Europe imports fertilizer while its soils are being depleted. Neither is a viable option in the long run. With REGREEN, we are deliberately building what has been missing: a regionally produced organic fertilizer that makes soils more fertile over the long term. With a focused company within the REPLOID Group, we gain the speed and agility to successfully develop the market with innovative products.”
Philip Pauer, CEO and Founder of REPLOID Group AG, added: “With REGREEN, we are giving our fertilizer business its own, effective structure and, in Andreas Steinbüchler, a leader with many years of industry experience. This underscores that the fertilizer segment is a strategic growth pillar for us, with enormous scaling potential.”
Steinbüchler brings extensive experience, having served as Chief Commercial Officer of LAT Nitrogen GmbH, Europe’s second-largest fertilizer producer, from 2018 to 2023, and as President of the Fertilizers Europe association from 2021 to 2023. His background positions REGREEN to navigate the complex fertilizer market effectively.
REPLOID Group AG, founded in 2020 and headquartered in Wels, Austria, focuses on the industrial utilization of regional organic residues from the food industry. The company builds and services ReFarmUnits that process organic waste using Black Soldier Fly larvae. The larvae are sold directly or processed into proteins and fats for animal feed, while the insect frass is used for premium organic fertilizer. REPLOID has been listed on the Vienna Stock Exchange’s direct market plus segment since July 2025 (ticker symbol: HRX5) and employs over 190 people.
The creation of REGREEN represents a significant step in REPLOID’s growth strategy, tapping into the increasing demand for sustainable agricultural inputs. With initial products targeting Central Europe and plans for expansion, the company aims to address pressing issues in soil health and fertilizer dependency.
