Rubean AG's SoftPOS App Reaches 150,000 Active Terminals, Doubling Year-Over-Year

Rubean AG, a Munich-based fintech company, announced that its SoftPOS payment acceptance software is now being used on over 150,000 active terminals. This marks a significant increase from approximately 80,000 terminals in early July 2025, nearly doubling the user base year-over-year. The company attributes this growth to the widespread adoption of its software-only point-of-sale solutions.

Co-CEO Jochen Pielage stated that the surge in user numbers reinforces the company's recently published forecast for revenue and earnings performance. At the annual shareholders' meeting in early July, the Executive Board projected consolidated revenue for the current year to be between 5.0 million and 6.0 million euros, up from 3.71 million euros in the previous year. Recurring revenue is expected to more than double in 2026.

Co-CEO Stephan Kuck emphasized that continued growth in SoftPOS usage will enable the company to reach monthly breakeven in 2027 and achieve positive net income for the full year for the first time. Rubean's technology replaces traditional card readers with a software app, allowing retailers to accept cashless and mobile payments without additional hardware. This approach is particularly beneficial for small and large retailers, the food service industry, and delivery services.

The company is already a market leader in Germany and Spain. Its PhonePOS solution enables merchants to accept card payments directly on their smartphones, and it is the only softPOS solution that supports girocard (EC card) in Germany. Rubean is listed on m:access and other trading venues, including XETRA. More information can be found at www.rubean.com.

The implications of this growth are significant for the payment industry, as it demonstrates the increasing shift towards software-based payment solutions that reduce reliance on physical hardware. This trend could lower costs for merchants and accelerate the adoption of cashless payments across Europe. For investors, Rubean's trajectory suggests a path to profitability, with recurring revenue expected to more than double in 2026, making the company a notable player in the fintech space.
