AEVIS VICTORIA SA announced that its subsidiary Swiss Medical Network SA signed an amendment to extend its CHF 150 million syndicated credit facility with a consortium of nine Swiss banks, led by UBS Switzerland AG as arranger and agent. The maturity date, originally set for 25 April 2027, has been extended to 25 April 2028, with an option to extend for a further year. All other terms and conditions remain unchanged, according to the full release issued via NEWMEDIAWIRE.
The extension carries added significance because Swiss Medical Network has benefited since 30 September 2026 from a 100-basis-point reduction in the applicable margin, which is linked to the net debt/EBITDA ratio. That improvement stems from better profitability and a reduction in net debt, the company said. For a capital-intensive hospital group, a lower margin on a facility of this size can translate into meaningful interest savings and greater flexibility for reinvestment in care infrastructure and services.
“The early extension of this facility by the entire banking syndicate confirms the banks’ confidence in Swiss Medical Network’s operational and financial trajectory,” said Michel Keusch, CFO of AEVIS. The unanimous participation of all nine banks is notable: syndicated lending decisions typically require each lender to reassess risk, and an early renewal suggests the group’s lenders see its trajectory as stable. For readers and investors, the move reduces near-term refinancing risk and signals that the group retains access to committed liquidity on competitive terms.
Swiss Medical Network describes itself as one of Switzerland’s two leading private clinic and hospital groups. With a nationwide network of 19 clinics and hospitals, 80 outpatient centres and 22 eye clinics, the group covers a comprehensive range of medical services and offers patients access to high-quality care in 16 cantons. It is also a pioneer in integrated care; through its VIVA healthcare plan and regional care networks, the group promotes coordinated, patient-centred treatment, setting new standards in Swiss healthcare. Swiss Medical Network Holding is majority-owned by AEVIS VICTORIA SA, which is listed on the SIX Swiss Exchange. More information is available at www.swissmedical.net.
The parent company, AEVIS VICTORIA SA, invests in healthcare, hospitality & lifestyle and infrastructure. Its main shareholdings include Swiss Medical Network Holding SA (76.3%, directly and indirectly), described as the only Swiss private network of hospitals present in the country’s three main language regions; MRH Switzerland AG, a luxury hotel group managing eleven hotels in Switzerland and abroad; Infracore SA (22.6%, directly and indirectly), a listed real estate company dedicated to healthcare-related infrastructure; Swiss Hotel Properties SA, a hospitality real estate division; and NESCENS SA, a brand dedicated to better aging. AEVIS is listed on the Swiss Reporting Standard of the SIX Swiss Exchange (AEVS.SW), and further details are available at www.aevis.com.
For the broader Swiss healthcare sector, the announcement offers a signal about financing conditions for private care providers. A nine-bank syndicate extending a facility early, combined with a margin reduction tied to leverage, suggests lenders remain willing to support well-performing hospital groups even as healthcare operators face pressure from cost inflation and shifting reimbursement models. The extension also gives Swiss Medical Network until April 2028—potentially April 2029—to manage its capital structure, which may support continued investment in its integrated care model and its network of clinics, outpatient centres and eye clinics across 16 cantons.
