TruGolf Completes Acquisition of Polymath Research, Expanding into Institutional Asset Tokenization

TruGolf Holdings (NASDAQ: TRUG), a golf technology company, has completed its acquisition of Polymath Research Inc., a Canadian firm specializing in institutional asset tokenization and developer of Polymesh, a Layer-1 blockchain designed for regulated assets. The deal, announced on October 9, 2026, combines TruGolf’s established golf simulation and software business with Polymath’s blockchain infrastructure, creating two complementary revenue streams. As of December 31, 2025, Polymath had issued more than $132 million in tokenized assets for more than 65 active issuers, supported by over 50 ecosystem partners. The companies are also developing tokenized equipment leasing and fractional franchise ownership programs targeted for the first quarter of 2027.

Following the acquisition, Polymath will operate as a wholly owned subsidiary while TruGolf continues its golf technology operations, including its simulators and E6 platform. Natalie Hirsch, formerly Polymath’s chief financial officer and interim CEO, has been appointed chief financial officer and chief operating officer of TruGolf, while David Hackett has joined its board of directors. In connection with the transaction, TruGolf also received approximately $2.95 million in net proceeds from the exercise of Series B preferred warrants.

The acquisition positions TruGolf to capitalize on the growing demand for tokenized real-world assets. Polymath’s Polymesh blockchain is specifically built for regulated assets, which could appeal to institutional investors seeking compliant digital asset solutions. By integrating blockchain technology with its golf business, TruGolf aims to unlock new revenue opportunities and enhance its offerings. The planned tokenized equipment leasing and fractional franchise ownership programs could democratize access to golf-related investments, potentially attracting a broader investor base.

For the golf industry, this move signals a potential shift toward innovative financing models. Tokenization could enable golf courses, equipment manufacturers, and franchises to raise capital more efficiently, while investors gain fractional ownership in tangible assets. TruGolf’s established brand and Polymath’s technical expertise may accelerate adoption of these models. However, success will depend on regulatory clarity and market acceptance of tokenized assets, which remain nascent.

This acquisition underscores the increasing convergence of traditional industries and blockchain technology. TruGolf’s foray into asset tokenization could serve as a case study for other companies considering similar diversification. The appointment of key Polymath executives to TruGolf’s leadership team suggests a strategic focus on integrating blockchain capabilities. The $2.95 million in warrant proceeds provides additional capital to support these initiatives. As the tokenization market evolves, TruGolf’s dual approach may offer resilience against sector-specific downturns. The planned tokenized programs in 2027 will be a critical test of whether blockchain can deliver tangible value in the golf and franchise sectors. For now, the completion of this acquisition marks a significant step for TruGolf as it seeks to innovate beyond its traditional offerings.
