The Business Leadership Council (BLC) has appointed Keiana Barrett as its new Chief Executive Officer, signaling a strategic move to strengthen its advocacy for Black-owned businesses and corporate leadership in the Chicago area.
Barrett brings a robust professional background to the role, having served in critical communication and leadership positions including National Press Secretary for Rainbow PUSH Coalition, Director of Communication for the Congressional Black Caucus, and Senior Advisor to the 2024 Democratic National Convention Host Committee.
Founded in 2010 by prominent business leaders Frank Clark and James Reynolds, the BLC represents over 120 Black business leaders across more than 25 industries. The organization's core mission focuses on growing the scale and capacity of African American businesses, advancing professional careers, and developing future leadership.
Barrett's appointment comes at a critical time for minority-owned businesses, with the BLC positioned to leverage her extensive experience in communication, diversity, and strategic development. Her vision emphasizes transforming inclusion from a principle to a practical business strategy that can enhance economic opportunities for Black entrepreneurs.
With a membership comprising 65 CEOs of African American businesses and senior executives from major Chicago corporations, the BLC continues to serve as a pivotal platform for networking, mentorship, and advocacy in the Chicago business ecosystem.
