Lisk, a Layer 2 Ethereum blockchain platform, has completed its inaugural African startup incubation program, demonstrating significant potential for blockchain innovation across the continent. The six-month initiative, powered by CV Labs, supported 23 startups with financial resources, strategic guidance, and networking opportunities.
The first cohort achieved remarkable milestones, including onboarding over 26,000 users, tokenizing $1.8 million in assets, and processing more than 20,000 blockchain transactions. Notable graduates like Tata-iMali, TrendX, and Nomachain showcased diverse applications ranging from stablecoins and NFT marketplaces to property ownership solutions.
With applications now open for Batch 2, the program will offer up to $20,000 per project in grants, along with potential additional funding of up to $100,000. Startups will receive comprehensive support including mentorship, curriculum development, and access to a robust professional network.
The initiative addresses a critical gap in Web3 ecosystem development, particularly in high-growth markets like Africa. By providing targeted support, Lisk aims to democratize blockchain technology and enable local innovators to transform their communities through technological solutions.
The next cohort is set to begin on May 19, 2025, with applications closing on April 12, 2025. This program represents a significant step towards nurturing blockchain talent and driving technological innovation in emerging markets.
