Comcast has announced a $3 million grant program targeting small businesses in King County, providing 100 local entrepreneurs with comprehensive support packages designed to address ongoing economic challenges. The Comcast RISE program will offer recipients a technology makeover, creative production services, media scheduling, educational resources, a $5,000 monetary grant, and business consultation services.
The initiative comes at a critical time for small businesses, with recent U.S. Chamber of Commerce data revealing significant financial pressures. Approximately 58% of small business owners report inflation as a top concern, and over one-third are worried about revenue generation—the highest percentage since 2021.
Seattle Mayor Bruce Harrell emphasized the program's importance, noting that small businesses are crucial to the city's economic and community fabric. The grants aim to help businesses stabilize, grow, and succeed amid challenging economic conditions.
Eligible small businesses in King County can apply for the program between May 1-31, with winners to be notified in August. The program is part of Comcast's broader Project UP initiative, which seeks to create digital opportunities and support entrepreneurial growth.
King County is one of five regions selected by Comcast for this grant program, joining Boston, Grand Rapids, Nashville, and South Valley. Since its launch in late 2020, Comcast RISE has supported 14,000 entrepreneurs nationwide, demonstrating a significant commitment to small business development.
