Comcast is providing significant support to small businesses in Utah's Wasatch Front region through its RISE program, awarding 100 local entrepreneurs comprehensive grant packages valued at $3 million. Businesses in areas including Bluffdale, Draper, Herriman, Riverton, Sandy, South Jordan, West Jordan, and White City can apply between May 1 and May 31.
Each grant recipient will receive a multifaceted support package designed to address critical business needs. The package includes a $5,000 monetary grant, computer equipment, internet and cybersecurity services, a professionally produced 30-second television commercial, media strategy consultation, and 12-month access to online entrepreneurship courses.
The initiative is part of Comcast's broader Project UP effort to create digital opportunities for small businesses. These grants represent a significant investment in local economic development, providing resources that can help entrepreneurs overcome challenges and expand their operations.
J.D. Keller, senior vice president of Comcast's Mountain West Region, emphasized the importance of supporting small businesses as the backbone of local communities. The Wasatch Front program is one of five regional initiatives, with 500 total businesses nationwide expected to receive support through Comcast RISE since its launch in 2020.
Previous program participant Tenisha Hicks shared how the grant helped her business during a challenging period, highlighting the potential transformative impact these resources can have for local entrepreneurs.
