The Auburn-Davis Center for DBT has entered a new phase of growth and service expansion under the leadership of Tom Harrer, who assumed ownership and CEO responsibilities on January 1, 2025. With 18 years of clinical experience, Harrer brings a deep understanding of Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to the organization's strategic direction.
The center continues to provide comprehensive mental health services, including individual therapy, skills groups, phone coaching, and consultation teams. These services target clients experiencing emotional dysregulation, self-harm, chronic suicidality, and other complex mental health challenges, utilizing the evidence-based DBT model developed by Dr. Marsha Linehan.
A key strategic focus for the center is increasing accessibility through expanded in-person and telehealth offerings across California. The organization aims to deliver culturally responsive care by maintaining a team of seasoned clinicians with advanced DBT training.
The expansion represents a significant development in mental health treatment, particularly for adolescents and young adults. By strengthening partnerships with school districts, healthcare systems, and community mental health providers, the center seeks to create more comprehensive and seamless care pathways for high-acuity patients.
Harrer emphasizes the center's commitment to long-term healing, stating that their approach provides practical tools for emotional regulation and resilience. This mission becomes increasingly critical as mental health needs continue to rise across communities.
