Nansledan Wins Prestigious Gindroz Award for Innovative Affordable Housing Design

The Institute of Classical Architecture & Art (ICAA) has selected Nansledan, a comprehensive urban development in Cornwall, England, as the recipient of the 2025 Gindroz Award for Excellence in Affordable Housing. Led by the Duchy of Cornwall and inspired by King Charles III's urban development vision, the project represents an innovative approach to creating sustainable, mixed-use communities.

Spanning 540 acres near Newquay, Nansledan demonstrates a holistic approach to affordable housing by integrating residential spaces with shops, offices, schools, restaurants, and recreational areas. The development's design emphasizes walkability and social connectivity, with affordable housing seamlessly blended throughout the community.

The Gindroz Award panel, chaired by Eric Osth, recognized Nansledan for its commitment to providing high-quality, affordable housing that does not compromise architectural aesthetics or community functionality. The development's affordable homes range from apartments to family houses, designed to match the local architectural vernacular and indistinguishable from market-rate residences.
