The upcoming webinar by Footage Foundation and El-Agartuu, titled 'Using Innovative Methods in the Prevention of Violence Against Women,' aims to highlight the role of storytelling and compassion in violence prevention. Scheduled for June 17, 2025, this event marks the beginning of a collaborative program focused on addressing the social and economic impacts of violence against women through evidence-driven strategies.
Research conducted between December 2024 and January 2025 engaged 108 participants, including survivors of violence, NGO staff, and government employees. Findings reveal that 73% of violence victims experience poor mental health, underscoring the urgent need for counseling services, better training for government staff, and improved collaboration among NGOs. The webinar will discuss these findings, emphasizing actionable solutions to enhance support systems and shift harmful societal norms.
Dr. Kristen Ali Eglinton of Footage Foundation and Nurzhan Tulegabylova of El-Agartuu stress the importance of community education and professional capacity building in preventing violence. Their insights point to a broader pattern of challenges across Central Asia, highlighting the webinar's relevance not just locally but regionally. This initiative represents a critical step towards fostering safer environments for women through informed, compassionate approaches.
