Rainforest Partnership is set to host a global livestream event titled 'Planet Walkers: A Global Livestream and Call to Breathe With the Forest' on June 22, in celebration of World Rainforest Day. The event will feature guided walks from biodiversity hotspots around the globe, including the Amazon, Kenya, and Southeast Asia, among others, with the participation of Indigenous leaders, scientists, and cultural storytellers. This initiative seeks to transform World Rainforest Day from a symbolic observance into a global movement for ecological solidarity, aiming to mobilize one million participants and generate over 100 million digital impressions.
The livestream, accessible at https://www.worldrainforestday.org, encourages individuals to engage with nature in their communities or online, using hashtags like #PlanetWalkers and #WorldRainforestDay to share their experiences. Rainforest Partnership CEO Niyanta Spelman emphasized the event's significance, stating, 'When we walk with the forest, we walk for our future. Every step is a statement.'
In addition to raising awareness, the campaign aims to secure real-time funds for rainforest protection through acre pledges and donations, with opportunities for corporate sponsors to engage in CSR and ESG initiatives. Rainforest Partnership, in collaboration with ZoeTerra and other partners, is working to expand the campaign's reach and impact, underscoring the urgent need to protect rainforests for their role in climate regulation, biodiversity, and supporting over one billion people globally.
