Trollinger Law LLC has announced the recipients of its 2025 Hometown Heroes Awards, celebrating the exceptional contributions of local first responders in Southern Maryland. This annual initiative highlights individuals who have significantly impacted their communities through their professionalism and commitment to public safety.
This year's honorees include Retired Sgt. Gus Proctor, Lt. Everett West, and Carl Schinner, each recognized for their outstanding service and community involvement. Retired Sgt. Proctor, a veteran of the Charles County Sheriff's Department, has been instrumental in fundraising for Special Olympics Maryland and supporting various community organizations. Lt. West of the Maryland State Police has initiated programs like the Kids and Cruisers Car Show and Shop With a Cop, fostering connections between law enforcement and the community. Carl Schinner, with nearly four decades in law enforcement, has led innovative safety initiatives and advocated for inclusive policing practices.
The awards underscore the importance of recognizing the often-overlooked efforts of first responders who go beyond their call of duty to make a difference. These individuals exemplify leadership, humility, and a deep commitment to public service, setting a benchmark for others in the field.
The winners will be honored during halftime at DC United games this summer and at Trollinger Law's First Responders Night at the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs game on September 13. This recognition not only celebrates their achievements but also shines a light on the vital role first responders play in enhancing community safety and well-being.
