Verizon Enhances Digital Security with New Home Protection Service and App Updates

Verizon has launched new digital security services and enhanced existing protection tools during Cybersecurity Awareness Month, addressing the increasing vulnerability of connected devices in modern households. The telecommunications company introduced Digital Secure Home service alongside a major refresh of the Verizon Protect app, positioning these offerings as essential defenses against evolving cyber threats.

Che Phillip, Senior Vice President of Consumer Device Marketing at Verizon, emphasized the company's commitment to security, stating that customers trust Verizon to connect them to what matters most, and securing those connections remains fundamental to their promise. The timing coincides with concerning data from the 2025 Verizon Data Breach Investigations Report, which revealed a 34% increase in vulnerability exploitation as an initial access vector for breaches compared to the previous year.

The new Digital Secure Home service addresses home network security through two tiers managed via the Verizon Home app. The entry-level version, included at no additional cost with Fios Home Internet service, provides Vulnerability Assessments and Malicious Website Protection. For enhanced security, Digital Secure Home Plus offers advanced protection against botnet and brute force attacks, abnormal device behavior detection, and sensitive data safeguarding on router-connected devices for $5.99 monthly.

Simultaneously, Verizon Protect has undergone significant updates to provide customers with deeper insights into their online safety. The refreshed app introduces a Security Rating feature that generates a dynamic score indicating personal data security levels, along with personalized recommendations for improvement. Users can now monitor their security across four key categories: Identity, Device, Network, and Online, taking recommended actions to strengthen protection in each area.

The security enhancements extend to device protection through Verizon Mobile Protect, which is currently in Fall Open Enrollment through November 3. This comprehensive coverage protects against loss, theft, damage including liquid exposure, and post-warranty malfunctions. The program offers unlimited claims, complimentary cracked screen repairs, 24/7 premium tech support, and same-day device delivery and setup services.

These security initiatives reflect Verizon's broader strategy to deliver services beyond network connectivity, enhancing how customers live, work, and play.
