The 35th Education & Careers Expo, organized by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), will take place from January 22 to 25, 2026, at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre with free public admission. This year's event brings together over 860 organizations from 23 countries and regions, including government bureaus, tertiary institutions, and education centers, divided into separate "Education" and "Careers" sections to provide extensive information on further studies and employment opportunities.
Under the theme "Go with Your Passion, Go Beyond Limits," the Expo spans four themed days focusing on Civil Servants & Public Services, Next Gen Technologies, Healthcare & Wellness, and Greater Bay Area Opportunities. These themes align with social development and evolving market needs, according to Smilely Lam, Assistant Executive Director of the HKTDC. The Expo aims to support Hong Kong's development as an international hub for high-calibre talent by providing a platform for government departments, public institutions, and businesses to recruit talent while inspiring students to explore opportunities in Hong Kong.
The Education section features four zones: Local Studies, Non-Hong Kong Education, Lifelong Learning, and Youth Zone. Local Studies showcases technological achievements like the SOPHIE 8x model from the Vocational Training Council's Engineering Discipline, winner of the World Solar Challenge, and the Hong Kong Institute of Construction's AI Tower Crane Simulator, which uses AI technology to provide immersive learning experiences. These displays highlight how courses nurture technology talent and showcase Hong Kong's potential in innovation. Institutions are introducing new application-oriented programs, such as robotics and automation engineering, to meet global demand for technology-related industries and strengthen education-workplace linkages.
The Non-Hong Kong Education zone includes consulates, overseas universities, and education consultancy organizations offering study abroad advisory services for Europe, the Americas, Asia, and Belt and Road countries. The Lifelong Learning and Youth Zones provide further education and industry information for professionals, career switchers, and young people, with organizations like the Employees Retraining Board offering skills training programs and the Professional Communication Association sharing insights on public speaking and job interview techniques. On the employment front, the Careers and Recruitment Square zones offer diverse career pathways, with over 30 government departments and public organizations setting up booths, including the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, Airport Authority, and various financial institutions. The upgraded CV Clinic features six services: one-to-one CV consultations and professional portrait photography by Jobsdb; 1:1 Trainee Programme & Career Consultation and an Aptitude Test Ready Station by MT20 Consulting Limited; onsite Personal Colour Analysis by clincolour; and the 16 Personality Types Magic Quiz by CTgoodjobs. These services help job seekers gain deeper insights into personal strengths and enhance workplace competitiveness. Quotas for these services are limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis through pre-registration.
During the Expo, over 100 activities will examine industry trends and career prospects, with star speakers including singer-songwriter Serrini, film directors, and DJ "Ah Jeng." Themed events include seminars on civil service careers, technology development, healthcare insights, and Greater Bay Area entrepreneurship, with speakers like Calvin Tse, President of the Hong Kong General Chamber of Young Entrepreneurs. Visitors can also enjoy an "Instant Career Snapshot" AI photo experience and receive complimentary souvenirs, such as a limited-edition mobile phone strap. This Expo supports Hong Kong's role as an education hub and talent centre, as outlined in the 2025 Policy Address, by providing resources for students and job seekers to plan their study and career paths effectively.
