The 35th Education & Careers Expo, organized by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), opened today at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre for a four-day run through January 25. The event gathers over 860 organizations from 23 countries and regions, including government bureaus, tertiary institutions, and education centers, showcasing Hong Kong's advantages as an international hub for pursuing higher education and nurturing international talents.
Innovation and technology are focal points this year, with over 100 activities scheduled during the expo. Representatives from leading enterprises such as J.P. Morgan and Lenovo will share insights on career development opportunities in Hong Kong. Sophia Chong, HKTDC Executive Director, emphasized that the expo provides a crucial platform for international and local students to explore Hong Kong's world-class education and career development opportunities while promoting Hong Kong's high-quality educational resources globally.
This year's expo continues with the theme 'Go with Your Passion, Go Beyond Limits' and features record participation from 31 Hong Kong government bureaus and departments, reflecting strong demand for diverse talents. The event is divided into 'Education' and 'Careers' sections with four themed days focusing on 'Civil Servants & Public Services', 'Next Gen Technologies', 'Healthcare & Wellness' and 'Greater Bay Area Opportunities'. These align with the 2025 Policy Address measures to strengthen Hong Kong's role as an education hub and talent center while cultivating innovation and technology professionals.
Highlights include the specially curated seminar 'A Date with Giants', exploring career and further studies opportunities through exchanges with representatives from Lenovo, J.P. Morgan, Li Ka Shing Faculty of Medicine at The University of Hong Kong, and an undergraduate entrepreneur from The Chinese University of Hong Kong. The 'Education' section features four zones including 'Local Studies', where institutions like the Vocational Training Council showcase innovations like the SOPHIE 8x solar vehicle model developed by IVE Engineering students, demonstrating practical applications of new energy theories. The Hong Kong Institute of Construction presents immersive learning experiences with construction robot dogs and humanoid robots, while a DIY Robotic Dog Workshop provides hands-on experience in applying innovative technology to education and construction.
The 'Careers' Zone features over 31 government bureaus and departments providing career opportunities in disciplinary forces, professional roles, and administrative positions. A dedicated Civil Service Bureau seminar zone will host 17 career seminars, including 'Administrative Officers Multiverse Explored: Unlocking Limitless Possibilities in Public Administration'. The 'Recruitment Square' gathers job platforms and enterprises accepting applications on-site, while the upgraded 'CV Clinic' offers six services including 1:1 CV consultations, professional photography, and personality assessments to enhance jobseekers' competitiveness.
Throughout the exhibition, over 100 activities will cover multiple fields including technology, healthcare, and overseas studies. Themed day events include discussions on AI shaping teamwork with representatives from KPMG, Adobe, Google Cloud, L'Occitane Group, and the Hong Kong Society of Artificial Intelligence and Innovation. Healthcare day features sessions on children's vision care by the Hong Kong Association of Private Practice Optometrists and psychological resilience cultivation by Hong Kong Shue Yan University. Greater Bay Area day includes a 'Guide to GBA Entrepreneurship' talk and insights from 'Hong Kong Drifters' - Mainland students studying in Hong Kong.
The expo also features interactive workshops suitable for families, including a mock courtroom by the Judiciary and a mock TV studio by Radio Television Hong Kong where participants can experience professional workflows firsthand. Admission is free throughout the four-day event, with visitors able to enjoy an 'Instant Career Snapshot' AI photo experience and receive complimentary souvenirs.
