The Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO) has been added to the Toronto CityPASS® program, expanding visitor access to one of Canada's preeminent cultural institutions. CityPASS, the first bundled attraction ticketing program in North America, offers significant savings on combined admission to top attractions across 17 major cities in the United States and Canada. The AGO represents a notable addition to the Toronto CityPASS attractions, which already include major destinations like the CN Tower and Ripley's Aquarium of Canada.
Originally founded in 1900, the Art Gallery of Ontario is one of North America's largest art museums, housing a collection of more than 120,000 works. The museum's holdings span cutting-edge contemporary art, significant works by Indigenous and Canadian artists, and European masterpieces. Notable highlights include the world's largest public collection of Henry Moore sculptures, Peter Paul Rubens' The Massacre of the Innocents (c. 1610), Pablo Picasso's La misereuse accroupie (The Crouching Woman) from his Blue Period, and Yayoi Kusama's immersive installation INFINITY MIRRORED ROOM - LET'S SURVIVE FOREVER (2017). The museum also features landscapes by Canadian painters including Emily Carr and the Group of Seven.
The AGO is currently undergoing its seventh expansion since its founding, with the new Dani Reiss Modern and Contemporary Gallery scheduled for completion in 2027. This expansion will increase exhibition space for the museum's growing modern and contemporary collection. Beyond its permanent collection and special exhibitions, the AGO offers programming for all ages and interests, including live performances, talks, and family activities at the Dr. Mariano Elia Hands-On Centre. The museum is open late every Wednesday and Friday until 9 p.m., with dining options ranging from art-inspired prix-fixe meals at the AGO Bistro to coffee at the Espresso Bar.
"The Art Gallery of Ontario is an essential cultural destination, and we're pleased to welcome it to the Toronto CityPASS program," said Megan Allen, president and CEO of City Pass, Inc. "This partnership reinforces our mission to make world-class experiences more affordable, accessible and convenient for travelers." Toronto CityPASS tickets save travelers up to 38% on prepaid admission to five of the city's top attractions in one mobile ticket. The program includes admission to CN Tower and Ripley's Aquarium of Canada, plus a choice of three additional attractions: Royal Ontario Museum, City Cruises Toronto, Casa Loma, Toronto Zoo, and now the Art Gallery of Ontario.
Tickets cost $134.96 CAD for adults and $99.96 CAD for children ages 4-12, excluding tax, and are valid for nine consecutive days including the first day of use. Mobile tickets are available at https://citypass.com. Ticketholders can use the My CityPASS app to access tickets, view attraction details, special offers, upgrades, and more. City Pass, Inc. offers a 365-day return policy on non-activated tickets. For 28 years, CityPASS tickets have provided savings on admission to top attractions in major destinations, with products earning an average rating of 4.6 out of 5 stars based on more than 88,000 customer reviews.
The inclusion of the AGO in the Toronto CityPASS program represents a significant development for cultural tourism in Canada's largest city. By making one of North America's premier art institutions more accessible through bundled pricing, the partnership addresses barriers to cultural participation while supporting the museum's mission of public engagement. This expansion comes at a time when the AGO is preparing for its seventh major expansion, suggesting increased institutional capacity to welcome visitors. For travelers, the addition provides greater value and flexibility when planning cultural itineraries, potentially extending visitor stays and increasing spending at related businesses. The partnership also reflects broader trends in tourism toward bundled experiences and mobile ticketing solutions that prioritize convenience and affordability.
