Angkor Resources Corp. (TSXV: ANK) announced that diamond drilling has commenced on the Andong Meas mineral exploration license in Ratanakiri Province, Cambodia. The program targets copper at the Gossan Hills prospect and gold at the Wild Boar prospect, advancing two high-priority targets in a single mobilization during the dry season.
The drilling campaign follows a recently completed Induced Polarization (IP) survey that identified copper drill targets adjacent to the Canada Wall copper porphyry project. The IP survey, detailed in a May 7, 2026 news release, returned several chargeability anomalies that align with 2022 ground magnetic features and copper-in-soil geochemistry. The Andong Meas license hosts multiple advanced targets along the same mineralized trend, including the Canada Wall porphyry copper target, the Gossan Hills copper-iron skarn, the CZ Gold prospect, and the Wild Boar gold prospect.
The drill program includes a minimum of 1,100 metres of diamond drilling at Gossan Hills/Canada Wall, with three holes planned at depths of approximately 200 to 500 metres each. Additionally, approximately two follow-up holes are planned at the Wild Boar gold prospect. Drilling is operating 24 hours per day to maximize efficiency during the dry season.
At Gossan Hills, the holes are designed to test two priority areas identified by the IP survey. The northern target will test where the underground electrical signature crosses into the southern edge of the Canada Wall copper target, potentially imaging a direct connection between the Gossan Hills zone and the Canada Wall porphyry system. The Line 6 target will test where the IP signature, surface magnetite, and zinc-lead in soils align, defining a zinc-lead target on the same trend. Drill collar locations and hole angles have been finalized based on the size, depth, and shape of the underground targets imaged by the IP survey.
Dennis Ouellette, VP Exploration, commented, "These are the holes we have been working toward for several years on this license. The IP signature, the magnetics, and the soil geochemistry all point to the same trend, and the Gossan Hills skarn sits right where the model would predict relative to the Canada Wall porphyry. We are looking for copper grade and continuity at depth."
At Wild Boar, located about 3 kilometres east of the CZ Gold prospect, follow-up holes will test the strength and orientation of gold-bearing structures at depth. The prospect is defined by a 1.5 by 1.2 kilometre gold-in-soil and quartz-float anomaly with narrow northwest-trending, southwest-dipping quartz veins. Float and surface samples from the anomaly previously returned values up to 25.6 grams per tonne gold, as reported in a prior news release.
The drilling is being conducted around the clock, with early mobilization progressing efficiently. Core will be transported to the company’s Banlung facility for logging, photographing, and sampling, with selected intervals dispatched to ALS for assay as the program progresses.
The implications of this drilling program are significant for Angkor Resources and the mineral exploration landscape in Cambodia. Success at Gossan Hills could confirm a copper skarn system connected to the Canada Wall porphyry, potentially establishing a new copper district. At Wild Boar, additional gold intercepts could expand the known mineralization and attract further investment. For the industry, this program demonstrates the application of integrated geophysical and geochemical targeting in a relatively underexplored region, highlighting Cambodia's potential for base and precious metals.
