BHS, Inc. Launches Modular Order Picker Attachments to Enhance Warehouse Safety and Flexibility

BHS, Inc., a leading manufacturer of custom material handling equipment based in St. Louis, MO, has launched a new line of modular attachments for order picker trucks. The attachments are designed to enhance versatility and safety in narrow-aisle warehouses, where order picker trucks are increasingly used.

The new product line includes four series: Modular Order Picker Carts, Modular Order Picker Platforms, Order Picker Furniture Carts, and Order Picker Furniture Platforms. The Modular Order Picker Carts are equipped with heavy-duty casters, allowing them to double as pushcarts for ground-level inventory management. The Modular Order Picker Platforms omit the casters, functioning solely as truck attachments. The furniture-specific versions are sized to fit the longer forks of furniture order picker trucks.

According to Trent Boothe, Technical Sales Manager at BHS, the growth of narrow-aisle racking has driven greater reliance on order picker trucks. 'Our goal is to make those trucks safer, more productive, and flexible enough to handle anything,' Boothe said. The attachments are custom-sized to eliminate gaps or offsets between the platform and the truck's operator deck, thereby removing tripping hazards—a safety risk sometimes associated with such attachments.

The key advantage of these solutions is their modularity. Users can adjust shelf spacing, remove shelves entirely, or add rails and guarding to create an ideal work platform. The bolt-on components are easy to attach or remove with standard tools, allowing for task-based optimization. This modular design provides custom equipment performance without the long lead times of made-to-order solutions.

'We specialize in designing custom equipment, but it takes time to design something from scratch,' Boothe added. 'Our modular solutions ship a lot faster than an all-original product. They give you custom performance without custom lead times.'

The availability of these modular attachments has significant implications for the warehousing industry. As narrow-aisle racking becomes more prevalent, the ability to quickly adapt order picker trucks for different tasks can boost productivity and reduce downtime. Additionally, the safety enhancements address a critical need in warehouse environments where tripping hazards can lead to injuries and costly disruptions.

The modular order picker carts and platforms are available now only from BHS, Inc. For more information, visit https://www.bhs1.com.
