Blue Faery: The Adrienne Wilson Liver Cancer Association will host a free, in-person HCC Lunch & Learn on October 24, 2026, at the University of Chicago Medicine. The event, designed to provide critical education about liver health, liver disease, and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. (doors open at 9:30 a.m.) at the University of Chicago Medicine in the Knapp Center for Biomedical Discovery Auditorium.
Developed in collaboration with liver cancer experts, the event aims to help patients, caregivers, and individuals at risk for liver cancer better understand prevention, early detection, treatment options, and available support resources. "Knowledge can change outcomes—everyone deserves clear, trusted information and support when facing liver cancer," said Andrea Wilson Woods, Founder and President of Blue Faery.
Hepatocellular carcinoma is the most common form of primary liver cancer, and many of its major risk factors are connected to chronic liver disease. Increasing awareness of those risks and helping people understand when screening and specialized care may be needed are critical parts of improving liver cancer outcomes. The HCC Lunch & Learn series supports Blue Faery's mission to prevent, treat, and cure primary liver cancer through education, advocacy, and support.
The free event includes a catered lunch and complimentary parking with validation. Attendees must bring their parking ticket inside for validation. Due to the serious nature of the topics discussed, attendees must be at least 16 years old, and each attendee must register separately. Space is limited, and advance registration is encouraged. Topics will include liver disease and HCC risk factors and symptoms, prevention and early detection of liver cancer, current treatment options for HCC, the importance of multidisciplinary care, and resources and support for patients and caregivers.

This event matters because liver cancer is often diagnosed at late stages, when treatment options are limited. By providing free, expert-led education, Blue Faery empowers individuals to recognize risk factors, seek early detection, and access support. The initiative also highlights the importance of multidisciplinary care and community resources, which can improve outcomes and quality of life for those affected by liver cancer.
