A Connecticut personal injury law firm has secured a $3.25 million settlement for a motorcyclist who suffered catastrophic injuries in a 2024 collision. The client, a 35-year-old machinist, was riding his motorcycle in Prospect, Connecticut, in August 2024 when a pickup truck crossed his path after pulling out from a private drive. The motorcycle struck the driver's side front end of the truck, catapulting the rider into the air. He landed approximately 28 feet away, in the opposite lane of travel, and suffered severe injuries, including eviscerating wounds to his abdomen, broken ribs, and a fractured femur.
Liability appeared straightforward given that the defendant had pulled directly into the motorcyclist's path, but the defense still raised numerous challenges to the claim, including allegations that the client had been riding too fast and recklessly.
