Daikin Donates Equipment for Veteran's Free HVAC Install in Indiana

Allegiance Heating & Air, a locally owned HVAC company serving Southern Indiana and the Louisville, Kentucky area since 2005, has completed a full HVAC system installation for Ed and Chyrell Whitmire of Southern Indiana at no charge to the couple. The installation was carried out through the company's Project Ace initiative, which honors local veterans by providing free heating and cooling systems.

Ed Whitmire served in the United States Air Force. After his military service, he and his wife Chyrell turned their focus to their community, restoring an older local church that they continue to use as a place of service to others. When Allegiance Heating & Air learned that the Whitmires needed a new heating and cooling system, the company moved forward with the project even though it fell outside its typical service area. The Whitmires are personal friends of Allegiance owner Brian.

The complete Daikin system used in the installation was donated directly by Daikin in support of the effort. Allegiance technicians installed a 96% efficient gas furnace along with a new coil, AC unit, and line set. The crew ran new thermostat wire to both the indoor thermostat and outdoor unit, installed a new 2-inch PVC exhaust penetration, and pressure-tested and vacuumed the line set below 500 microns to verify a leak-free system. The installation also included connecting to the home's existing gas line with a new shut-off valve and exterior union to satisfy current gas code requirements, followed by a complete startup procedure carried out per manufacturer specifications.

“Project Ace is about more than installing heating and cooling equipment,” said a spokesperson for Allegiance Heating & Air. “It's about honoring those who have served our country, building meaningful relationships, and giving back to the people who have sacrificed so much for our communities. Ed and Chyrell live their faith by giving back every day, and we felt they were exactly who this program was made for.”

Project Ace is Allegiance Heating & Air's ongoing program dedicated to providing free HVAC installations to veterans in the Southern Indiana and Louisville area. The Whitmire family is the second household the company has served through the initiative. Community members who know a veteran in Southern Indiana or the Louisville area facing challenges with a heating or cooling system are encouraged to submit a Project Ace nomination. This initiative highlights the importance of supporting veterans who have served the country and continue to serve their communities. By partnering with manufacturers like Daikin, local HVAC companies can make a significant difference in the lives of veterans in need. The impact extends beyond the immediate comfort of a new HVAC system, fostering a sense of appreciation and community support for those who have sacrificed so much.
