DN Group AG's Subsidiary Algene Begins Series Production of Microalgae, Completes First Harvest

Algene Holding SE, a subsidiary of DN Group AG (ISIN: DE000A3DW408), has announced the successful first harvest of high-purity microalgae, achieving a total yield of 4,500 litres. This milestone marks the start of series production for the company, which aims to supply high-quality microalgae raw material for the cosmetics, food, and pharmaceutical industries.

The Algene platform, developed in cooperation with the Technical University of Munich, has now been scaled up for series production. The microalgae are intended for quality-critical applications, and the company has already entered extensive talks with well-known cosmetics firms. An initial delivery to a leading German cosmetics manufacturer is scheduled for the coming days, with the biomass to be used primarily for laboratory tests and validation of active ingredients.

Ole Nixdorff, CEO of DN Group, commented: "For Algene, the start of series production is an important milestone. The market for microalgae is growing rapidly and offers enormous potential. The high level of interest underlines the high quality of the Algene material and the good market acceptance. As a shareholder in Algene, DN Group participates in this future market."

The market for algae as a strategic resource is expanding dynamically. According to the EU Commission, the European market for algae is projected to grow to around 9 billion euros by 2030. Algae are considered a key component of the bioeconomy, and Algene Holding is positioning itself as an industrial platform for controlled microalgae production, addressing markets such as nutrition & food, cosmetics, life sciences, and aquaculture.

This development has significant implications for industries relying on sustainable and high-purity raw materials. The cosmetics and food sectors, in particular, stand to benefit from a reliable supply of microalgae that meet stringent quality standards. Additionally, the pharmaceutical industry may find applications for the algae in drug development and production. As the market for microalgae grows, companies like Algene could play a pivotal role in reducing dependence on traditional, less sustainable resources.

DN Group AG, the parent company, invests in impact companies with high growth opportunities in future industries such as AI, mobility, circular economy, food, health, and energy. By supporting Algene's entry into series production, DN Group is strengthening its portfolio in the bioeconomy sector and positioning itself to capitalize on the expanding algae market.
