MIDDLESEX COUNTY, CT – A coordinated effort to address food insecurity across Middlesex County resulted in the collection of thousands of pounds of food for local pantries. The initiative, named “Flood the Food Banks,” took place on August 5 and was organized by The Flood Law Firm in partnership with Middlesex United Way as part of the latter’s Middlesex Pantry Project.
The one-day drive generated an estimated 2,500 to 3,000 pounds of non-perishable food items, which were distributed among 13 food pantries and food banks throughout the county, including two smaller direct drop-offs to local pantries. Residents contributed staples such as canned vegetables, soup, pasta, rice, peanut butter, cereal, shelf-stable milk, canned tuna and chicken, macaroni and cheese, and other essential items. Collection points were set up at participating grocery stores and community locations.
The effort underscored the importance of year-round donations, as food pantries continue to serve individuals and families beyond the holiday season. “Giving back to the communities where we live, work, and serve our clients is an important part of who we are,” said Brian Flood, co-founder of The Flood Law Firm. “Flood the Food Banks brought our team together with Middlesex United Way and community members for a meaningful effort that will help support families and individuals throughout Middlesex County.”
The event also received local media coverage, including reporting from WTNH on Flood the Food Banks and a sponsored feature highlighting the partnership and community initiative.
In addition to the food collected, the drive resulted in hundreds of dollars in financial contributions, further bolstering the resources available to organizations serving county residents. The results demonstrate the power of community collaboration in addressing pressing local needs.
The Flood Law Firm, founded in 2012 by brothers Brian and Chris Flood, is a Connecticut personal injury law firm. The firm’s involvement in the food drive reflects its commitment to the communities it serves, extending beyond legal advocacy to direct community support. With offices throughout Connecticut, the firm focuses on representing individuals harmed through no fault of their own, including those involved in car accidents and other serious injuries.
The success of the August 5 food drive highlights the ongoing need for community engagement to support local food security efforts. By coordinating donations across Middlesex County, the initiative provided essential resources to pantries that continue to serve residents year-round.
