Golden Cariboo Resources Ltd. has completed the purchase of a 5.36-acre freehold property in Hixon, British Columbia, for a total purchase price of $300,000 CAD, the company announced. The acquisition, first disclosed in a May 19, 2026 news release, provides the company with a dedicated camp to support continuous exploration and development activities at its nearby Quesnelle Gold Quartz Mine Property.
The property comprises two adjacent lots situated on Highway 97, and Golden Cariboo now holds title to the site. According to the company, the camp represents a key investment in operational readiness and long-term capacity. By enabling a 12-month operating schedule, the acquisition is expected to support the company’s focus on building upon and expanding its inaugural NI 43-101 Mineral Resource Estimate announced on September 30, 2026. The Quesnelle Gold Quartz Mine property is located 4 kilometers (2.5 miles) northeast of Hixon and is road accessible.
Company President and CEO J. Frank Callaghan stated: “Being able to work 12 months a year sets Golden Cariboo apart from many peer group companies. This acquisition will support those efforts and the Company’s focus on building upon and expanding its inaugural NI 43-101 Mineral Resource Estimate announced on September 30, 2026.” The ability to operate year-round could give the company a competitive advantage in a region where seasonal constraints often limit exploration activity.
Golden Cariboo has mobilized its Atco 5 unit skid-mounted trailers to the camp to provide near-term accommodation and operational support infrastructure for field personnel and contractors. Water studies, permitting and engineered plans are currently in progress to assist with the installation of camp infrastructure. Aqua Tech Ltd from Kelowna and Western Water Associates Ltd out of nearby Prince George have been onsite to complete water testing and water quality analysis, which includes review by Northern Health. Results are pending. The company noted that either the existing water licence at the camp will be transferred to it or a new licence may need to be applied for.
Additionally, Golden Cariboo has engaged Prince George-based L&M Engineering Ltd. to complete engineering plans and permitting for either an upgraded or new septic system to support the camp. This work is intended to ensure the site will be fully functional and compliant with applicable regulations. The camp’s development is part of the company’s broader efforts to advance its Quesnelle Gold Quartz Mine property, which hosts the Quesnelle Quartz gold-silver deposit discovered in 1865 and developed over a footprint of about 150m x 150m at the Main zone straddling Hixon Creek.
The company is proceeding with highly targeted drilling and trenching programs on the property, which is bordered by Osisko Gold Group Inc. and partly intertwined with them at the north end of the Cariboo Gold Project. The property is located along a favourable corridor adjacent to the Spanish and Eureka thrust faults over a 96,183 hectare (237,673 acre) area. Historically, over 101 placer gold creeks on the 90-kilometer trend from the Cariboo Hudson mine north to the Quesnelle Gold Quartz Mine property have recorded production, with successful placer mining continuing to this day. The geological setting shows strong similarities with the Spanish Mountain gold deposit, situated 120 km (75 miles) southeast along the same geological trend.
For investors, the camp acquisition signals progress toward operational continuity and could reduce downtime associated with seasonal shutdowns. For the local region, the development may bring ancillary economic activity through contractors and service providers. The company’s shares trade on the Canadian Securities Exchange under the symbol GCC, on the OTC under GCCFF, and on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange under 3TZ.
