Hispanic Public Relations Association Awards Record-Breaking 2026 Scholarship Class

The Hispanic Public Relations Association (HPRA) has announced its 2026 scholarship recipients, awarding six students and marking the largest cohort in the program's history. The announcement, made via NOTICIAS NEWSWIRE, highlights HPRA's growing commitment to fostering diversity in public relations and communications. Since its launch in 2022, the program has awarded 20 students with a total of $50,000 in scholarships.

The 2026 recipients are Camila Garcia Chirino (University of Florida), Isabelle Flores (The University of Texas at Austin), Luis David Latozefsky (Stetson University), Melanie Herrera (Florida International University), Nasaiah Algarin (American University), and Xavier Ramirez (University of Southern California). This year also marks a milestone with HPRA's first high school senior recipient, extending support to emerging talent earlier in their academic journey.

Recipients were selected based on academic achievement, leadership, community involvement, and commitment to communications. Their interests span public relations, strategic communications, public affairs, entertainment and media, civic engagement, and social impact. "The growth of this program is something our leadership is deeply proud of because it reflects what is possible when our industry invests intentionally in the next generation," said HPRA National President Sonia V. Diaz. She credited partners like Aflac and H+M Communications, as well as individual donors, for enabling expanded reach, mentorship opportunities, and meaningful community impact.

Beyond financial support, the program connects students to HPRA's national network through mentorship, professional development, and networking opportunities. Melanie Herrera of FIU will receive the Roshana Gossoff Memorial Scholarship, a $1,500 award honoring the legacy of a former HPRA Miami officer. "Our scholarship winners inspire us every year with their stories," said Natalie Asorey, Scholarship Committee Co-Chair. "We're proud to support and champion them as they chart their paths in this industry."

Recipients will also receive free access to HPRA National webinars and events, a mentorship and shadowing opportunity with a board member, and recognition at the annual ¡BRAVO! Awards gala on Nov. 19, 2026, at the LA River Center and Gardens in Los Angeles. The 2026 program theme, "Legacy in Motion," honors HPRA's history and the leaders shaping each generation of communicators.

This announcement matters because it addresses the persistent need for diverse talent in communications. By expanding its scholarship program and reaching students at different academic stages, HPRA is strengthening the pipeline for underrepresented groups in public relations, marketing, and related fields. The record-setting class signals growing industry investment in access and opportunity, which could lead to a more inclusive workforce and richer storytelling across media and corporate communications. As HPRA continues to grow the program, its impact on communities nationwide is likely to deepen, ensuring that the progress built over more than four decades continues forward.
