Martial Arts History Museum in Glendale: A Global Cultural Destination Faces Relocation

GLENDALE, Calif. — The Martial Arts History Museum, a unique institution dedicated to preserving martial arts history and culture, is marking its 27th year as the only museum of its kind in the world. Located at 201 N. Brand Blvd., B100, in Glendale, the 8,000-square-foot facility has become a cultural hub since relocating from Burbank, drawing thousands of visitors from across the country and around the globe. In fact, the majority of its visitors come from outside the United States, underscoring its role as a global tourism destination.

The museum's success is attributed to the leadership of President Michael Matsuda and support from local champions like Mayor Ardy Kassakhian and Eric Fleishman, who spearheaded the move to Glendale. Beyond traditional Asian martial arts, the museum features exhibits celebrating Armenian heritage, Native American history, Celtic traditions, and the legacy of Warrior Women. This diverse programming positions the museum as a bridge between cultures, enriching Glendale's cultural landscape alongside institutions like the Alex Theatre and the Museum of Neon Art.

However, the museum's future in its current location is uncertain. With less than two years remaining on its lease, the non-profit is preparing to relocate to another facility within Glendale and has launched a fundraising effort to support the move. The museum also serves as a vital community resource, offering outreach programs for senior centers, individuals with dementia, and those with special needs. Plans for the new facility include dedicated spaces for health and wellness lectures, senior Tai Chi classes, and expanded workshops, further enhancing its community impact.

As a 501(c)(3) non-profit, the museum relies on donations and sponsorships to fuel its expansion and programs. For more information, visit MAmuseum.com. The original release is available via www.newmediawire.com.
