OLA Vacations, a Fort Lauderdale-based online travel agency, has launched the OLA Host Network (OHN), a host agency program that promises independent travel advisors stronger economics and modern technology. The program's fee structure is simple: $99 annually, a $15 per booking fee, and the opportunity for qualified advisors to earn up to 100% of their commission. Members also gain access to OLA's proprietary technology, AI-powered tools, supplier relationships, training, and seven-day support.
"Travel advisors work incredibly hard to build their businesses and earn their commissions. We wanted to create a model that allows them to keep more of what they earn while also giving them the technology, products and support they need to grow," said Anthony Hamawy, CEO of OLA Vacations and a longtime travel industry executive.
The program was developed by a team with over 100 years of combined travel industry experience, blending traditional travel expertise with OLA's growing investment in technology and artificial intelligence. Initially focused on experienced travel advisors, OHN is designed to evolve alongside their businesses. OLA plans to expand the network with additional AI capabilities, marketing resources, travel products, and advisor tools.
"Technology and AI are going to change many aspects of how travel is researched, marketed and sold, but I believe the travel advisor will remain a critical part of this industry," Hamawy said. "Our goal is to combine the best of both worlds — the knowledge and relationships of experienced travel professionals with the technology & economics that can help independent advisors compete and grow."
For independent advisors, the launch could mean a more favorable commission split and access to tools that are typically reserved for larger agencies. The $99 annual membership and $15 per booking fee are notably low compared to many traditional host agencies, which often charge monthly fees or take a larger share of commissions. That could make it easier for advisors to start or scale their businesses while keeping more of their earnings. The inclusion of AI-powered tools may also help advisors compete in an increasingly digital marketplace by automating tasks such as marketing, client research, and booking management.
For the broader travel industry, OHN's emphasis on technology and AI reflects a growing trend: host agencies are investing in digital infrastructure to attract and retain advisors. As more advisors seek flexibility and higher payouts, programs like OHN could pressure competitors to adjust their own fee structures and service offerings. OLA's partnership with Signature Travel Network, a prominent consortium, gives OHN members access to preferred pricing and exclusive privileges from major travel brands, which could enhance the value proposition for advisors and their clients.
