OMRON Healthcare Co., Ltd. announced the U.S. launch of the VIVA 360+ Full-Body Smart Scale, a connected body composition monitor that measures up to 18 body metrics and integrates with the OMRON Connect app. The product launched in the United States on October 13, with rollout to other markets planned in the coming months. The announcement was made via NEWMEDIAWIRE.
The VIVA 360+ addresses a growing consumer shift away from weight as the sole indicator of health. As more people adopt active lifestyles and seek a deeper understanding of their bodies, there is increasing demand for tools that provide a more complete picture. This trend is amplified by the rising use of GLP-1 medications for diabetes and weight management, which has driven interest in monitoring changes in body composition, including body fat, skeletal muscle, and body water.
Unlike traditional scales, the VIVA 360+ uses four-point measurement with electrodes in both hands and feet to perform segmental analysis of the arms, trunk, and legs. It tracks skeletal muscle and subcutaneous fat, and introduces new indicators such as body water percentage, bone mass, and fat-free mass. These metrics offer a more holistic view of how exercise, diet, and lifestyle choices affect the body over time.
A key feature is Athlete Mode, designed for frequent or intensive trainers, including runners and strength-training enthusiasts. Because standard body composition algorithms may be less accurate for individuals with higher muscle mass relative to their BMI, Athlete Mode uses athlete reference data to provide tailored measurements. Integration with the OMRON Connect app allows users to track trends through numerical values and graphs.
“In developing VIVA 360+, we wanted to expand the information users can gain from a daily measurement while keeping the experience simple and accessible,” said Susan Rappin, Executive Director of Marketing at OMRON Healthcare, Inc. “Athlete Mode and the new body composition metrics were developed to provide a more detailed picture for different types of users, helping them see progress that may not be reflected in body weight alone.”
Alice Koehler, Managing Director of OMRON Healthcare, Inc., added, “Body weight alone does not always tell the full story of a person's health journey. People are looking for meaningful insights that go beyond the number on a scale. Building on more than 30 years of expertise in body composition monitoring, VIVA 360+ helps people better understand how their bodies are changing and empowers them to make informed decisions that support their long-term health.”

The launch underscores the growing importance of body composition monitoring in preventive care. As obesity and lifestyle-related conditions remain major health concerns, tools like the VIVA 360+ could help individuals better manage their health and potentially reduce the risk of chronic diseases. For the fitness and health industry, the introduction of Athlete Mode sets a new standard for personalized tracking, while the integration with OMRON Connect positions the company as a leader in connected health solutions.
