PFISTERER, a global technology company specializing in electrical connection and insulation solutions, is investing approximately $2.7 million in its Rochester, New York, manufacturing facility to expand production capacity for SICON shearbolt connector components. The investment will add three additional CNC lathes, tooling, and related production equipment, increasing capacity for these components by two and a half times. This move is part of PFISTERER's broader growth strategy for the North American market and reflects the increasing demand for reliable power connections in critical infrastructure.
More than half of PFISTERER's SICON connectors are now sold in the United States, and the company aims to meet this demand directly from its U.S. plant. By localizing production, PFISTERER is strengthening its delivery capacity, flexibility, and resilience in a key growth market. The Rochester facility will play a central role in PFISTERER's global production network, supporting the company's "Local-for-Local" approach, which prioritizes manufacturing products in the regions where they are needed. This strategy shortens delivery times, improves responsiveness to customer needs, and reduces transportation-related emissions.
SICON is PFISTERER's shearbolt cable connection system designed for secure electrical and mechanical connections. These connectors are compatible with a variety of conductor materials, cable types, and cross-sections. They are electrically and mechanically type-tested in accordance with IEC 61238-1, Class A, and have also been tested to the North American standard ANSI C119.4. Notably, SICON connectors are the only ones that meet the Class 2 requirements of this standard, making them particularly suitable for power infrastructure expansion, especially for supplying data centers.
The rapid expansion of data centers in the U.S. and globally is driving increased demand for SICON connectors. Data centers require high-performance, exceptionally reliable connections to the power grid to ensure a secure and scalable power supply. PFISTERER's investment in Rochester directly addresses this need, positioning the company to capitalize on the growing market for critical digital infrastructure components.
Johannes Linden, member and spokesperson of the Executive Board of PFISTERER Holding SE, commented, "With the expansion of our production in Rochester, we are taking an important step in our growth strategy for the U.S. market. We manufacture where our products are needed, thereby strengthening our local presence and enabling us to supply our customers more quickly and flexibly. The investment not only significantly increases our production capacity but also creates additional qualified jobs at the site."
