PhotonPay has closed a $40 million Series C funding round led by Blockchain Capital, with participation from new investor SBI Group and follow-on investments from existing investors IDG Capital, GL Ventures, and Lightspeed Faction. Blacksheep Technology served as exclusive financial advisor. The announcement was made via Media OutReach Newswire.
The new capital will support the expansion of PhotonPay's stablecoin-centric Financial Operating System (Financial OS), with investment focused on enhancing multi-asset wallet capabilities, expanding global card issuing, strengthening local clearing infrastructure in key markets, and developing an agent-ready financial execution layer. As of August 2026, PhotonPay's annualized transaction volume reached US$65 billion, and the company holds 34 payment and financial licenses across the Americas, Europe, and Asia, serving over 200,000 business customers in more than 200 countries and territories.
PhotonPay's Financial OS integrates multi-asset wallets, global money movement, foreign exchange, local clearing, and global card issuing through an API-first architecture. Stablecoins sit at the core, connecting on-chain liquidity with fiat balances to enable businesses to move funds across supported networks and turn digital asset liquidity into purchasing power for local payments and corporate spending. The company's network supports local collection accounts in 17 key markets, payouts in over 60 currencies, and more than 100 payment routes, including 74 major local e-wallets. Approximately 97% of payout transactions reach recipients within hours or same day, with 68% in real time. Over the past 12 months, PhotonPay issued 4.4 million cards, up 275% year-over-year.
Beyond first-party solutions, PhotonPay offers embedded finance, enabling technology platforms to integrate global accounts, payments, and card issuing into their own products. It now serves more than 100 enterprise and platform partners. The company is also developing standardized financial interfaces for AI agents, with planned support for the Model Context Protocol, and a policy-based execution framework to govern agent-initiated transactions. This follows a May 2026 live agentic payment demonstration with Mastercard using a tokenized PhotonPay card.
"Moving money across borders in seconds means little if it still takes days to put that capital to work," said Lewison Chen, Founder and CEO of PhotonPay. "Stablecoins are accelerating global money movement, while local clearing and global card issuing connect that liquidity to local settlement and everyday business spending."
The funding underscores the growing convergence of stablecoins and traditional finance. As businesses adopt stablecoins for treasury, settlement, and spending, PhotonPay's dual-rail infrastructure—spanning stablecoin and fiat rails—positions it to bridge digital assets with banking and card networks. Institutional partnerships with J.P. Morgan, Standard Chartered, and DBS, along with connections to domestic systems like Brazil's Pix and Mexico's SPEI, form the backbone of this network.
"As stablecoins become increasingly integrated into global payment systems, bridging digital assets with traditional financial infrastructure will be essential to unlocking their real-world potential," said Eiichiro So, CEO & Managing Director of SBI Ven Capital. The investment from SBI Group signals strategic interest in expanding digital asset adoption across the SBI ecosystem.
For businesses, the expansion could mean faster cross-border settlements, more efficient treasury operations, and greater access to programmable spending tools. For the fintech industry, PhotonPay's agent-ready layer and policy-governed execution framework may set standards for how AI agents participate in commerce.
