Rooftop Relief, a roofing contractor in Cincinnati, Ohio, has completed a special donation for local military veteran Jerry Townsley, replacing the entire gutter system on his barn free of charge. The decision came after Townsley, who served in the Navy and Air Force, requested a standard veteran discount for storm damage repairs. Co-founders Jerry Vineyard and Ryan Collins chose instead to fully donate the seamless gutter installation, citing Townsley's distinguished service record.
Townsley, a graduate of Milford High School (Class of 1961), served four years on active duty with the United States Navy aboard the aircraft carrier USS Forrestal (CVA-59). He then spent 20 years in the United States Air Force at Rickenbacker Air Force Base. In addition, he devoted 39 years to civil service, culminating in a lifetime of contributions to his community and country.
When severe storms damaged the gutters on Townsley's barn in Greater Cincinnati, he contacted Rooftop Relief to ask about a discount for military veterans. After reviewing the property and learning of Townsley's background, the co-founders decided that a simple price reduction was insufficient. "When Mr. Townsley called us asking for a Veteran discount after severe storm damage tore up his barn's gutters, Ryan and I looked at his decades of service in the Navy, Air Force, and civil service and knew right away—a discount wasn't enough," said Jerry Vineyard. "Replacing his gutters completely free of charge was the least we could do to show our gratitude."
This donation marks the latest expansion of Rooftop Relief's annual Veteran roof donation Greater Cincinnati initiative. As an Owens Corning Preferred Contractor, the company has built a reputation for high-quality storm damage inspections, residential roof replacements, and seamless gutter installations. Co-founder Ryan Collins noted, "Our annual Veteran program started with roofs, but stories like Jerry Townsley's remind us that home protection involves the complete exterior. Whether it's a storm-damaged roof or seamless gutters on a barn, we want to ensure our local Veterans have safe, durable structures protecting their property."
Rooftop Relief encourages residents across Loveland and the Greater Cincinnati area to nominate deserving veterans for future free roofing and exterior repair projects under the annual Rooftop Relief program. Family members, neighbors, and community organizations can submit nominations directly through the company's website.
The impact of this donation extends beyond Townsley's property. It highlights the ongoing need to support veterans who have served their country, and it demonstrates how local businesses can make a meaningful difference in their communities. By expanding the program to include gutters, Rooftop Relief underscores the importance of complete exterior home protection, especially for those who have given so much in service.
