SBF AG Unveils Two Product Innovations to Boost Automation and Digitalization in Electronics Manufacturing

SBF AG, a listed specialist for innovative solutions in rolling stock, lighting, electromechanics, and sensor technology, has announced two product innovations aimed at accelerating growth in its "Sensor Technology and Electromechanics" segment. The enhanced Automatic Label Feeder (ALF) and the new automatic optical inspection system INSPECT are both field-tested solutions developed in-house and now available to industrial customers with similar requirements. These products address the growing demand for automation and digitalization in manufacturing, positioning SBF to capitalize on these megatrends and generate additional earnings.

The Automatic Label Feeder, originally created for internal use in electronics production, has evolved into a standalone product line after receiving strong customer interest. The latest enhancement extends its capabilities to fully automated labeling of glass vials, opening up new industries beyond electronics manufacturing, including pharmaceuticals, laboratory diagnostics, and fine chemicals. The platform's architecture allows for flexible adaptation to different production processes, providing a foundation for further expansion. Robert Stocklinger, Member of the Management Board of SBF AG, emphasized the strategic importance: "In electronics manufacturing, traceability and automation are decisive competitive factors. With the Automatic Label Feeder, we’re addressing exactly that need and are continually expanding the technology’s capabilities to include new applications such as the labeling of printed circuit boards, electronic components, and now glass vials as well. This demonstrates the adaptability of our technology and sustainably strengthens our product portfolio."

INSPECT, the new optical inspection system, automates quality assurance for electronic assemblies after surface-mount device (SMD) assembly. It uses a high-resolution camera to capture the assembled printed circuit board, with software that identifies fiducial marks, component positions, and orientations, reads standard barcode and 2D code formats, and automatically documents inspection results. The system can be set up in minutes, retains calibration and operating data during updates, and maintains stability even in the event of hardware failures. This innovation brings quality assurance to a new level of automation, helping manufacturers improve process control and efficiency.

These product launches exemplify SBF's innovation model, which leverages technology developed for its own manufacturing operations to create market-ready products with direct customer benefits. By commercializing these solutions, SBF strengthens its product portfolio and reinforces its expertise in automation and digitalization across all business segments. The company's focus on these megatrends aligns with its broader strategy to benefit from global shifts toward mobility, climate protection, and industrial efficiency.

SBF AG is a specialist for innovative solutions in rolling stock, lighting, electromechanics, and sensor technology. The group combines highly specialized hidden champions that are leaders in their fields, offering a high-quality and forward-looking product and service portfolio. The new products are expected to contribute to the company's growth by addressing the increasing need for automation and quality in industrial manufacturing.
