Tempest Droneworx Launches Corvus MRDR™ Platform to Accelerate Autonomous Systems Development

Tempest Droneworx™ has announced the commercial availability of Corvus MRDR™ (Modular Robotics Development & Reporting), a platform designed to transform how autonomous systems are developed. The platform allows engineers to start with simulated aircraft and progressively replace them with real ones, all while retaining their existing workflows and intellectual property.

The development of Corvus MRDR™ stems from Tempest Droneworx's own engineering challenges. According to the company, it was originally built for internal use, evolving through years of real-world applications, including work on the FAA BAA 4One-to-Many Command and Control project. This history has resulted in a proven system that is now being offered to the broader developer community.

Ty Audronis, Chief Technology Officer of Tempest Droneworx, emphasized the platform's value: "We're not commercializing our control algorithms. We're commercializing the engineering environment that helped us build them. Corvus MRDR™ gave us the freedom to try more ideas, fail without breaking expensive hardware, and go to the field when we were ready—not because we needed the field to find out if something worked."

The Corvus MRDR™ platform supports PX4 and ArduPilot through distributed Core Robotics Object Simulators (CROS), with additional firmware types in beta. A key component is the Robotics Aggregation & Visualization Node (RAVN), which combines simulated and physical vehicle telemetry with ADS-B, Remote ID, RADAR, and other data sources in a real-time 3D environment. This allows for full mission recording and replay, offering developers a comprehensive testing and analysis tool.

The product line includes the MRDR-1, stackable MRDR-2 Expansion systems, and the eight-display MRDR-187 Enterprise, with NDAA-compliant configurations available. The first MRDR-187 Enterprise has already been delivered to the University of Houston Robotics Department, signaling early adoption by academic institutions.

Dr. Dana Abramovitz, CEO of Tempest Droneworx, highlighted the collaborative potential: "The next generation of autonomous systems won't be built by any one company working alone. By making Corvus MRDR™ available, we're giving researchers, developers, industry, and government another tool to move faster and advance the next generation of autonomous systems together."

The platform is available for pre-order now, with commercial deliveries beginning in October 2026. A defense variant, Corvus MRDR™ Defense, is scheduled for December 2026, and the Corvus Platform Pipeline Beta Program offers early access to upcoming features. The introduction of Corvus MRDR™ is significant for the autonomous systems industry. By allowing developers to test at scale without the logistical burdens of physical flights, it reduces costs and accelerates development cycles. This could lead to faster innovation in fields ranging from delivery drones to defense applications, and the platform's emphasis on IP retention ensures that organizations can maintain their competitive edge.
