Wrap Technologies Develops New De-Escalation Doctrine for BolaWrap, Seeks California POST Certification

Wrap Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: WRAP) has announced the completion of a new law enforcement doctrine and training methodology designed to operationalize de-escalation using the BolaWrap 150. The company has submitted the curriculum for independent validation in preparation for applying for California Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) certification. This development comes after the ATF Ruling 2026-2 classified the BolaWrap as an instrument of restraint rather than a firearm or 'any other weapon.'

The new methodology is aimed at encounters where verbal de-escalation is not sufficient, but the situation does not yet require a traditional weapons-based response. By providing a standardized approach, Wrap Technologies intends to offer law enforcement agencies a tool to bridge the gap between verbal commands and lethal force options. The BolaWrap 150 fires a tethered cord that wraps around a subject's legs or arms, temporarily restraining them without causing injury.

If the curriculum receives POST certification, Wrap Technologies plans to integrate the methodology into patrol and crisis-response training. The company also intends to deliver the training digitally through its Wrap Tactics platform. This digital delivery could lower barriers to adoption, support recurring training and cassette revenue, and provide a scalable model for pursuing additional state certifications and agency adoption across the United States.

The importance of this announcement lies in its potential to standardize de-escalation techniques in law enforcement. The ATF classification removes legal hurdles that might have previously deterred agencies from using the BolaWrap. With a certified training program, agencies could more confidently adopt the technology, potentially reducing the number of use-of-force incidents and improving outcomes for both officers and civilians.

Wrap Technologies is a global public safety technology company focused on intelligent detection, orchestration, and response solutions. Its WrapShield platform unifies these elements into an integrated, human-supervised architecture for law enforcement, homeland security, defense, enterprise, and critical infrastructure. The company is headquartered in Miami, Florida, and its products include the BolaWrap 150, Wraptor MX, WRAP Reality, Wrap Tactics, and Frenel TPiCore polarimetric sensing.
