Protocase and its subsidiary 45Drives have initiated production at a new 12,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in Wilmington, North Carolina, marking a significant acceleration of their U.S. expansion strategy. The facility, located at 4270 US Highway 421, will initially focus on sub-assembly for 45Drives servers, with plans to scale up to full production within the next year.
The new facility will operate through an integrated workflow connecting Protocase's headquarters in Sydney, Nova Scotia, and the Wilmington site. Initially, components will be sourced from existing supply chains, with boards and metal materials brought from Sydney for assembly and testing in Wilmington.
By mid-March, the facility will begin assembling complex 45Drives Storinator and Storinator Hybrid servers, with plans to transition to full production for U.S. customers. This includes the new ultra-performance Stornado F16 server. As the operation matures, the company anticipates producing circuit boards and metal components directly in Wilmington.
Doug Milburn, President of 45Drives, emphasized the company's commitment to bringing high-value, high-density manufacturing to the United States. The facility is designed to support high-efficiency production and job creation in the region, with plans to expand operational capacity and create additional roles.
This expansion signals a strategic response to market demand for made-in-USA computing systems and demonstrates Protocase and 45Drives' dedication to serving U.S. customers more efficiently while maintaining innovation in precision manufacturing and data infrastructure.
