The Jaime & Blanca Jarrín Foundation (JBJF), alongside Los Defensores, has unveiled the 2025 Scholarship Application Program, targeting college students pursuing degrees in Law and Journalism. This initiative, running from June 23 through July 20, is themed "The Power of Believing," highlighting the significant impact of mentorship and support in fostering resilience and self-confidence among students from underserved communities.
Nicole Cordero, Vice President of Community Affairs and Marketing at Los Defensores, emphasized the life-changing effect of hearing "I believe in you" from a mentor. This partnership aims to bridge educational gaps and nurture the next generation of Latino leaders in fields where their voices are critically needed.
Jaime Jarrín, MLB Hall of Famer and co-founder of JBJF, shared the foundation's commitment to investing in youth education as a means to strengthen communities. The scholarship program not only provides financial assistance but also reinforces the belief in students' potential to succeed and lead.
Eligibility for the JBJF Scholarship includes a minimum 3.0 GPA, demonstrated financial need, and enrollment at a California-based school. Applicants must submit basic and family information, a resume, a letter of recommendation, academic transcripts, and responses to a brief questionnaire.
